Technical Program Manager, VR Discovery & Distribution

The Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) team is developing future products in augmented reality and virtual reality that will enable groundbreaking experiences for consumers and businesses. We are hiring for an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead workstreams in Discovery & Distribution on the VR Products SW development team. The Discovery and Distribution teams mission is to grow VR platform engagement towards a healthy two-sided ecosystem through building products, platforms, and infrastructure that connects people with amazing experiences and keeps them coming back into VR. The TPM role is key to coordinating efforts and driving impact across various functions and stakeholders, including Product, Engineering, Design, QA, and more, to drive feature quality and execution from concept to release. In this role, we are looking for individuals with broad experience in software development and program management to lead Discovery and Distribution initiatives for current and future experiences and devices. You will play a key role in defining and driving highly complex, cross-functional programs. These programs power our software roadmaps on products to grow engagement on our AR/VR platforms. You will collaborate with engineering and product management on strategy, team goals, and with defining the software roadmap. The primary responsibility for this role is to lead execution of all phases of the development cycle, communicate program requirements, manage schedules, identify/track risks, and provide clear communication to project stakeholders about program deliverables. Technical Program Manager, VR Discovery & Distribution Responsibilities

* Own the end-to-end delivery of software features and infrastructure for VR platform in Discovery and Distribution

* Understand product requirements, technical challenges, business needs, and develop a plan for delivering features that meet the requirements

* Engage with cross-functional teams to identify constraints, dependencies, risks/issues, and to deliver software features

* Manage communication with engineering, product, and marketing teams. Work with teams to set milestones, communicate project status, and identify/address potential setbacks

* Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and product development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment

* Coordinate and contribute to engineering deliverables including specifications and test plans

* Hold teams accountable for quality and timelines of software deliverables

* Ensure project documents are complete, current, and available for staff and leadership review

* Identify resources needed and work closely with the team leads to maintain full visibility of multiple projects, ensuring resource gaps are addressed efficiently

* Own status updates and reporting to stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

* BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

* 5+ years experience as a Technical Program Manager or Product Manager working in a cross-functional software development environment

* Software experience in a development and deployment of at-scale applications used around the globe

* Experience with software development processes and best practices

* Knowledge with project and issue tracking systems

* Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams

* Experience managing launch or commercialization of one or more software or consumer products

* Experience managing and overseeing multiple on-going initiatives simultaneously

* Experience operating autonomously and driving and setting goals for multiple teams

* Cross-functional communication and collaboration experience

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of HTML5, React, CSS and JavaScript technologies
