Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRL-R) brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers to build the future of connection within virtual and augmented reality. We're developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses. The Surreal Vision research group at FRL-R is seeking exceptional Software Engineers to work on Project Aria and contribute to solving device SW challenges on the path to building future machine perception enabled wearable devices. We're looking for candidates who are passionate about mobile software development, with solid experience in the application layer of iOS and Android. A successful candidate in this role is self-driven, creative and doesnt mind delving into different areas of the stack. This person will take initiative and should be willing to execute consistently in an agile, fast-paced environment.

Software Engineer - Mobile Client Lead Responsibilities

* Work closely with product management, researchers, application software engineers, and partners to understand requirements, define interfaces for new software frameworks, and architect enhancements

* Drive and develop the mobile application central to the program, working closely with design and other disciplines

* Work closely with software engineers on the Aria device OS and backend service teams to design and implement a seamless system across these layers

* Work with other teams within Surreal which have mobile client needs, providing technical guidance

* Work with OS and backend teams to debug functional, performance and stability issues across the stack

* Participate in design reviews and code reviews for the team

Minimum Qualifications

* 5+ years experience with iOS and/or Android application development

* Experience with shipping high quality mobile applications

* Experience with coding in JavaScript

* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

* 3+ years experience with React Native or other cross-platform mobile development

* Experience in full stack web/mobile application development with a variety of coding languages

* Experience with C/C++, Java and/or Objective C

* Experience with lower-level mobile development, such as the Android NDK
