Job Description

The Connectivity Deployment team is responsible for managing, supporting, and deploying both wired and wireless infrastructure connectivity solutions. The Connectivity Deployment team works cross-functionally to support product development efforts along while conducting trials and pilots across the globe. Wireless connectivity deployment engineers are responsible for deploying and supporting end to end connectivity solutions with cross-functional partners. We are looking for someone to join our team to help engineer and implement these technologies. This is a full-time, 12 week internship position.

Network Engineer, Wireless Connectivity Deployment Intern, Infra Data Center Responsibilities

* Wireless and TCP/IP network design, and implementation using Facebook-developed as well as off the shelf technology

* Work cross functionally with partners, project management, and network engineering to build network designs to solve for connectivity requirements

* Interface directly with partners and serve as escalation to connectivity engineering and product teams

* Work with program managers, procurement, engineering, installation teams and vendors to formalize site design requirements and deployment plans

* Collaborate with various engineering and user groups, to define and execute, functional and interoperability test cases

* Work cross-functionally with local municipalities, engineering, and 3rd party vendors

* Integrate connectivity solutions with carrier/ISP networks

* Comprehensive documentation of all deployment processes

* Maintain technical and training documentation, develop automation and tooling as needed

Minimum Qualifications

* Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

* UNIX/Linux and TCP/IP network fundamentals

* Ability to communicate cross-functionally and solve problems under pressure

* Troubleshooting and analytical skills

* Ability to lift/move 30-40 pounds on a daily basis

* Experience coding in at least one language, preferably for network or systems automation

Preferred Qualifications

* Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op

* Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting IP routing/switching technologies and protocols in a dual-stack environment

* Hands on experience with wireless networks, wireless telecom interfaces, implementation, and debugging

* Knowledge of carrier backhaul including mmWave, microwave, core networks, WIFI access points, or WIFI ISP deployments
