Integration Process Engineer

Job Description

You will be the FB technical authority for the process development and factory capability bring-up of our critical active alignment (AA) assembly processes from pilot line to mass production hand-off to operations. You will identify, plan, resource, and close gaps in technical and quality capabilities within our manufacturing partners. You will utilize a variety of resources including yourself; FB staff in Taiwan, Europe, and the USA; contract/vendor labor in Taiwan; manufacturing partner expertise and labor. You will have an advanced development laboratory available and staffed in the USA for your utilization to explore new processes and to investigate failure modes experienced by our manufacturing partners.
The ideal candidate will have experiences in the manufacture of consumer electronics optical/electrical devices such as cameras and/or light projectors, and leading engineers and technicians in successful execution of process development projects from prototype builds to mass production; will have command of design of experiments (DOE) theory and application, gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R), quality assurance, and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
This position may require foreign and domestic travel of 25% or more.

Integration Process Engineer Responsibilities

* Own the end-to-end supply chain model for our proprietary Tier 1.5 optical-electrical module

* Lead the setup and qualification of custom AA machines and processes

* Define and perform DOE's to improve process and product quality, reduce cycle time, and improve yield

* Own manufacturing based Risk Register items from identification through burn-down and closure

* Work closely with the internal operations team to facilitate hand-off to mass production

* Statistical analysis of large data sets to understand process and product performance

* Lead the preparation of machine operation manuals and other technical documentation

* Work with cross functional teams to perform remote (international) and/or hands-on troubleshooting and debug of electro-optical systems

* Manage project tasks and activities to meet project schedule and budget goals

* Mentor and train engineers and technicians

* Participate in project planning, technical reviews and status meetings

* On-site factory visits in North America, Europe, and Asia for system installation and support working with our internal customers and our supply chain partners

* Ability and desire to travel internationally for two weeks at a time multiple times a year. Upwards of 25% travel in a year

Minimum Qualifications

* BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Optical Engineering or equivalent experience

* Experience in a high volume consumer electronics manufacturing setting

* Statistical analysis skills revolving around manufacturing (i.e. GRR, capability studies, T-Tests and correlation analysis)

* Problem solving/debugging skills

* Fluency in English and Mandarin

Preferred Qualifications

* 10+ years of related manufacturing experience

* 3+ years of experience in a technical or team leadership role

* Experience in SMT machines and processes

* Experience with statistical analysis tools (i.e. Minitab or JMP)

* Machine learning experience and knowledge

* Experience troubleshooting and solving problems with automated equipment in manufacturing facilities

* Knowledge and/or background in optical theory

* Knowledge and/or background in high precision automation

* Optics, image sensor, or electronics manufacturing knowledge

* Six Sigma training

* Experience with Python
