Job Description

The Director of Category Management will lead the advanced technology categories for global data center infrastructure. In partnership with the Data Center Project Sourcing Managers, the individual will own the development of the supply chain strategy balancing best cost and speedy delivery of systems and products without compromising quality. The Category sourcing team works across Critical Electrical and Mechanical Equipment, Cabling and Fiber Technology, and a wide variety of construction and operational services. More than specific subject matter expertise, the successful candidate for this role will be highly adaptable and have demonstrated commercial skills in the areas of contracts, negotiation, sourcing, risk, and supplier management.

Director, Category Management Responsibilities

* Partner with internal stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to scale the Category sourcing team in support of long range plans.

* Hire, develop, and lead a team of sourcing professionals who are responsible for commercial ownership including negotiations, quality assurance, and supplier management in the Data Center space.

* Develop individual and customized sourcing strategies for Facebooks Data Center R&D initiatives and construction roadmap, including leading the negotiation and procurement strategy for equipment, commodity, and service agreements.

* Establish and foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

* find creative ways to overcome obstacles to ensure delivery of quality, schedule, and cost goals.

* Develop scaling methodologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness of sourcing operations

* implement key performance indicators to track progress relative to key metrics and goals.

* Highlight and drive opportunities for significant operational improvements that include high impact initiatives and measurable results.

* Establish the Data Center sourcing team as the leader for all commercial engagements.

* Ability to be a hands-on and an effective people manager for sourcing teams

* demonstrate progression of management scope and ability to develop and grow a team.

* Up to 25% travel required to review and coordinate various initiatives with onsite personnel and vendors.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline.

* 15+ years of experience in Data Center Infrastructure or equivalent construction procurement environment.

* Experience leading cross-functional mission critical infrastructure construction programs.

* Experience negotiating or managing general contractors, sub-contractors, and equipment manufacturers.

* Experience moving from strategy to execution and delivering results while managing multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

* Engineering experience in one or more of the following: electrical or mechanical systems and subsystems.

* Advanced technical degree or MBA.
