Inventory Management Lead

Job Description

The Inventory Management Lead will be responsible for building and leading a team to drive operational rigor and meet inventory objectives across all Facebook Infra supply chain functions. The Lead will drive the optimization of inventory investment to meet and exceed financial and operational goal, delivering the best internal customer experience across all business channels. The Inventory Management team sits at the intersection of Planning, New Product Introduction (NPI), Sourcing, Engineering, Business & Finance. The ability to effectively lead, influence & communicate across these teams throughout the go-to-market process to achieve the optimal results is paramount to this leadership role. The successful candidate will also forge relationships with the various sourcing teams to partner on end of life, vendor managed inventories, buffering, and other sourcing strategies that will further enable Facebooks quick response to demand changes. Additionally, the Inventory Management Lead will drive development of business processes, tools, and analytics to support inventory planning activities. This role requires independent thought leadership and influencing skills to drive change and align on cohesive strategies, processes, and execution elements to ensure all functional areas adhere to the policies.

Inventory Management Lead Responsibilities

* Develop and oversee a multi-year inventory management strategy and implementation plan for Facebooks global supply chain.

* Create, sell, and execute a multiyear inventory organizational framework to support inventory management strategies and goals.

* Partner effectively with Infrastructure Business Operations Support (IBOS), Finance, Accounting, Legal, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Supply, and Engineering teams on all inventory planning activities, including annual strategy, demand forecasts, supply plans, allocation, and productivity of inventory investments, while supporting capacity, aging, turn, product transition, and other operational objectives for each internal business unit.

* Lead analysis of historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by business unit, working with cross functional partners to drive opportunities.

* Oversees inventory program execution and feedback assessment from suppliers, data center operators, transportation providers, etc. to trouble-shoot for problems impacting ability to meet the designated inventory targets.

* Participate in shaping Supply and Demand Planning strategies, capabilities and processes that aim to improve operational performance and meet high service levels.

* Develop deep partnership with key supplier partners (integrators and commodities), to drive inventory policies and buffer strategies into the supply chain, working in conjunction with the Sourcing teams.

* Develop, implement, monitor and report on cross-functional inventory KPIs to ensure effective execution, integration and performance against inventory targets. Propose and implement solutions to improve metrics.

* Provide inspirational leadership and influence the broader cross functional team to ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization.

* Maintains excellent interdepartmental and intradepartmental relationships at all levels of the organization by providing the strong support, operational guidance and transparent communication.

* Partner with Facebooks technology teams to design, implement, and validate new tools/systems to support multiple supply chains within the company.

Minimum Qualifications

* BA/BS degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field or equivalent practical experience.

* 15+ years of experience in Operations, Supply, Demand or Inventory planning and execution.

* 10+ years leadership experience with direct report responsibility.

* Experience in leading, managing, developing, and motivating teams.

* Problem-solving orientation with experience defining cross-functional processes and systems requirements to drive efficiency, clarity and accuracy.

* Executive level communication and interpersonal skills with cross functional partner collaboration skills. Includes experience articulating complex concepts in simple terms to engage cross-functional partners on decisions, priorities and action plans.

* Self-starter, experience navigating ambiguity and providing direction and structure to a team and cross-functional partners.

Preferred Qualifications

* MBA or equivalent degree.

* Experience working for a hyperscale company with a global data center footprint.

* Senior leadership experience running a complex inventory management program.

* Understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain Management processes (planning/inventory, NPI, sourcing, manufacturing, and forward/reverse logistics).
