The Facebook Reality Labs team at Facebook is helping more people around the world come together and connect through world-class Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality hardware and software. With global departments dedicated to AR/VR research, machine perception, graphics, operating systems, social interaction, and more, we are committed to driving the state of the art forward through relentless innovation. AR and VRs potential to change the world is immense. For our new novel AR/VR Operating System (XROS), we are currently seeking an XROS Developer Experience Engineering Manager to manage teams of engineers focused on the OS developer experience, tooling, and languages support. The ideal candidate has strong design and build skills, a passion for systems software, hands-on experience delivering programming runtimes to other developers, and experience with shipping hardware and software products. You are the kind of leader who has expertise building and supporting high-performance teams that create highly reliable, robust, and performant systems software. You have hands-on experience leading teams bringing up new, widely used programming platforms, runtimes and languages and have significant experience debugging and repairing complex, multi-component systems. You have a passion for shipping software that enables other developers to succeed on our platform.

XROS Developer Experience Engineering Manager, Facebook Reality Labs Responsibilities

* Build and retain a world-class software and system engineering team through recruitment, mentorship, guidance, and career development.

* Define and deliver on project roadmap and incorporate both strategic and tactical goals to ensure product success, in the short, medium, and long term.

* Work cross-functionally with highly technical product management, software, and hardware teams.

* Influence the entire software organization with best practices for power optimization to stabilize and improve battery life.

* Support a culture of innovation to guide your team through identifying and delivering creative projects that meaningfully impact our power profile.

Minimum Qualifications

* 7+ years of experience managing software engineering teams.

* Proven track record of building and supporting cross-functional teams.

* Experience hiring and mentoring junior and senior engineers across multiple disciplines and domains.

* Experience initiating and driving complex projects to completion with minimal guidance.

* Experience communicating strategy, tactics, and decisions across the organization.

* Experience roadmapping towards key performance metrics in short, medium, and long term windows.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with consumer hardware development.

* Experience with embedded systems and performance, especially battery constrained devices.

* Experience with AOSP.

* Experience with data pipelines, dashboards, and monitoring/reporting tools.

* Experience sourcing and partnering with external vendors.
