Job Description

Messaging and Social Payments are a critical component of the broader Facebook Financial (F2) mission. This leader will create and execute on a bold vision aligned with our vision to empower everyone to participate in the digital economy, delivering experiences across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. Through our Family of Apps, Facebook is connecting billions of people around the world. Whether splitting a meal with friends or paying a small business vendor for a service, connecting financially is a natural addition to our products. This leader will think holistically around social payment experiences such as birthday celebrations and making it frictionless to pay others within messaging experiences. This leader has the opportunity to support a strong team of Product Managers, bringing together a series of previously disparate initiatives. Role: The Director of Product for Messaging and Social Payments is responsible for the key customer experiences and underlying platform supporting consumer initiated Payments across our Family of Apps. Further, this leader is responsible for peer-to-merchant payments inside of messaging experiences, working closely with our Core Payments organization. The ideal candidate for this role is a servant leader that has led high-performance product organizations at scale. This person is deeply experienced in messaging and social products, understanding the importance of creating engaging and frictionless experiences. Additionally, this person has deep understanding and empathy for managing a small business - whether it be bookkeeping, payroll, or inventory management. This leader is able to seamlessly balance zero-to-one initiatives with a portfolio of already-growing products, and is no stranger to making difficult tradeoff decisions. Key responsibilities also include driving alignment across the organization, with other leadership and the executive team. This leader will work closely with partner organizations inside of Facebook, such as the Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp teams. Experience managing stakeholders across a global organization while building or expanding infrastructure is a plus. This candidate will have an inherently global perspective for payments, understanding that the policy and infrastructure realities vary meaningfully by geography. Deep experience with global regulatory engagement is a plus. Finally, a strong candidate is a thought leader in privacy and user choice in social and commerce experiences. Experience at the intersection of payments/fintech (or other highly-regulated spaces) and social/messaging is a big plus.
