Technical Program Manager - Facebook App Performance

Job Description

Our team has the crucial responsibility of driving end to end Facebook performance, from starting up the app to every user interaction. We ensure the FB App works seamlessly for our 2.6 billion users, and work across most of the FB products to achieve our goal. As a TPM for this team, you will own key metrics for mobile performance, reliability, quality, and experience, and get to play a key role driving these metrics across multiple product and infrastructure organizations. You will work with product teams across the company to ensure that rapid development of new features does not conflict with the core usability of the app. This team is seeking someone with a strong technical background, preferably one that has experience with improving product performance and reliability, and someone passionate about driving user sentiment improvements through solving deep and challenging technical problems. We are also looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within diverse, cross-functional teams.

Technical Program Manager - Facebook App Performance Responsibilities

* Manage cross-functional product development programs in a matrix organization covering a range of teams and tools.

* Develop and manage end-to-end project plans and ensure on-time delivery.

* Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases.

* Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks.

* Communicate project status to stakeholders and various key teams around the organization.

* Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions.

* Interface with several different Engineering teams for project requirements and scope.

* Help drive product and tooling decisions to align with higher company initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

* B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

* 7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, or technical product/program management experience.

* Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.

* Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope.

* Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership.

* Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products.

* Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.

* Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.

* Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

* Web or Internet start-up environment and technical infrastructure management experience where you had to wear multiple hats.

* Product sense including meeting the demands of the target market, ranking feature importance, managing complexity and measuring product success.

* Familiarity with metrics collection, applied data science, and presentation via dashboards.

* Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.

* Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership.

* Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope.
