Distribution System Operator Trainee

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Individual plans, coordinates, and directs switching and tagging, issuing clearances, monitoring of loads, emergency restoration, and associated reporting for the electric distribution system on rotating shifts. Individual will be required to qualify to operate distribution SCADA devices. Individual coordinates the above activities with CONVEX and other regions when system conditions cross jurisdictional lines. Rotating shifts required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Individual must possess a high school diploma, or the equivalent, with two years additional study in the electrical-technical field as well as a minimum of five years experience in the electrical utility field; have the ability to read and understand complex circuit diagrams; have basic computer knowledge skills and be able to work in a high-stress environment; qualify as an Assistant Dispatcher within one year and perform duties of a Dispatcher as required. Also, must possess strong analytical skills and be available to work overtime during storms and other emergencies. Must successfully pass Pittsburgh Psychological Testing.

Candidates with a degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology are preferred.
