Scope:
VMG is a business development and consulting group, embedded within the sales organization. This group fosters and is built on Team First foundation, collaboration is key to success in this role. The role is meant to be a versatile and analytics heavy. The responsibilities will mainly revolve around bringing value by helping our sales organization win and penetrate into new Verticals, supported under the VMG umbrella. Secondarily the role will provide project support operations that are key to the sales growth
Major Responsibilities:
* Create dynamic end customer opportunity solutions through proposal or bid development inclusive of cross-referencing, seeking deviated cost support, and formatting opportunities for the pricing team, or leveraging pricing tools for smaller opportunities to provide market competitive bids.
* Participate in strategic bid opportunity meetings with sales and pricing.
* Designs and deploy Deviated supplier allowance process for VMG working with Finance, Merchandising and the VMG Vertical owners.
* Partner with Inventory Team to monitor inventory levels by analyzing inventory reporting designed for VMG. Provide suggestions to alleviate any business impacts to major Vertical Sector accounts.
* Collaborate internally for analysis of profitability in relation to financial models (EBIT, ROIC, FM, cost and supplier rebates).
* Help to lead sales organization through any compliance matters to mitigate risk exposure i.e. Country of Origin/TAA, Letter of Supply, Audit and etc.
* Work with Legal department in providing appropriate agreements that mitigate exposure and clearly exemplify our intent in the products and services Essendant and the Public Sector management group provide to our resellers.
* Proactively develop tools to support the team's objective of rapid, targeted and profitable growth.
* Provide project support on ad hoc assignments that support new sales avenues, customer solutions, or escalated customer support needs.
* Support data needs for sales team for business review and to ensure opportunities are achieving their goals.
* Lead all opportunity implementations through the full life cycle.
* Lead and collaborate with other business teams to identify dependencies and other projects that may affect the VMG

Skills/Knowledge Required:
* General knowledge of various functional areas ideal. Specifically: distribution, customer service, procurement, pricing, and Merchandising.
* Strong problem solving skills. Able to trouble shoot a problem and identify a solution that meets Account objectives and Vertical Sector abilities and financial needs.
* Able to multitask in a fast paced customer focused environment.
* Solid communication skills - written and verbal
* Experience working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
* Financial and business analysis background/knowledge.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
* Experience using financial data warehouses such as ABC, Hyperion etc.
* Prior work providing financial support of sales or marketing organizations
* Understanding of pricing strategies
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree preferred in business, finance, accounting or marketing.
* MBA is a Plus
* 5-7 years' work experience in accounting, finance, business analysis, Pricing, customer service, or sales.
* Prior experience with Government Contracts or contracts in general is a plus.
