Job Title: Product Engineer - Entry

Location: Keosauqua, IA

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a Product Engineer who can perform engineering duties within the Specialty Product Engineering team. Overall responsibilities will be to support daily engineering and design needs pertaining to customer orders, Sales, Manufacturing, Field Service. Additionally, also supporting cross functional organization needs of the Quality Assurance, Test Lab, Product Management, New Product Development engineering, Design To Value engineering teams pertaining engineering needs of assigned product responsibilities.

Essential Competencies:

* Researches, analyzes and plans the mechanical design in accordance with product requirements as established from various sources including product management, manufacturing, test lab, and customer specification documents.
* Implement improvements to existing product for cost reductions and performance improvements. Hands-on mechanical design, analysis (including FEA), prototyping, debugging, system integration and testing are key components of the development activities.
* Documents, implements and tests mechanical design requirements for production. This includes supporting transfer of relevant design output documents and recommended process instructions.
* Construction of accurate BOMs based on legacy and new designs.
* Determine inspection criteria for current and new designs.
* Investigate the applicability of various manufacturing processes to our fabrication needs.
* Supports the Product Engineering Manager in establishing or updating project and departmental deliverables.
* Assures that quality processes are followed on projects and within the Product Engineering group.
* Contributes to the development or improvement of processes
* Partner with suppliers to evaluate component alternatives that can be integrated into existing product for quality/cost. Document components and provide ordering information for purchasing.
* Investigate customer complaints, determine root cause and propose solutions.
* Inform and train team members as required.

Minimum Quantifiable Competencies:

* Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field
* Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience
* Must have unrestricted US work authorization.

Strengths needed for this role:

* 2D & 3D CAD expertise
* Experience with solid modeling in production of sheet metal products is desirable
* A minimum of two (2) years experience directly relating to engineering and manufacturing
* High level of mechanical aptitude needed for hands-on experience in a fast-paced, customized manufacturing environment
* Previous experience reviewing mechanical designs for improvements
* Intermediate technical skills
* Good problem solving skills with a drive for results
* Good written and verbal skills
* Basic project management skills
* Ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently
* Must be action oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong customer focus
* FEA experience desirable
* Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and facilitation skills.
* Demonstrated ability to partner with employees at all levels of an organization.
* Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
* Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
