POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for managing sourcing activities for a particular category or categories: to include but not limited to preparing RFQs, negotiating with suppliers, developing and maintaining category strategies, managing implementation after a sourcing project is concluded, working with troubled suppliers to improve, setting up robust supply replenishment methodologies for new suppliers and staying on top of supplier technology and capability. This position will also be responsible for providing detailed professional report outs as needed or requested.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

* Working closely with the team to identify vendors / components which meet the standards as set forth in the specifications and general quality requirements.
* Lead negotiations with vendors regarding price quotes for new and special components. Includes identifying and locating potential sources, refining product specifications, analyzing quotations in terms of price, quality, availability, service, warranty, and the consistency of each.
* Collect, organize and analyze data in a meaningful way to facilitate decision-making. Must be able to communicate this information to other plant locations to ensure continuity between plants, and be able to communicate this information as necessary to all appropriate parties both internally and externally.
* Manage key supplier metrics related to quality, delivery, cost and response. Works with other team members including the supplier to proactively develop counter-measures when metrics are trending in direction, which is predictive of an unacceptable result.
* Maintains a detailed understanding of logistical options and associated costs to assure that material flow from suppliers to customers results in a high quality delivered product with an optimal cost structure.
* Actively engaged in shipping results to assure that delivered product quality is maintained by working with team members to drive adequate packaging design.
* Prepare and issues all necessary reports and/or correspondence using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* Assess supplier capability, cost benefit analysis, occurrence resolution, risk mitigation and contingency planning for specific commodities.
* Evaluate and communicate technical risks, business requirements, deliverables and schedules supporting project initiatives.
* Drive supplier related targeted cost reduction, VAVE activity, and associated projects to completion.
* Strategic management of specified commodity including total cost optimization through payment terms, inventory and lead-time reduction, and supplier consolidation.
* Must become proficient with J. D. Edwards.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

* Bachelors Degree required or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.
* 10 years work experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, purchasing and/or materials, or closely related field preferred.
* Strong analytical and technical abilities and negotiation skills.
* Formal Lean Manufacturing preferred.
* Strong leadership and control of work processes from beginning to end is necessary. The job demands fast, but carefully thought-out results.
* Must be able to effectively communicate with senior internal and external customers as well as end-users of related products and services.
* Must be able to work effectively in cross-functional teams as well as lead team projects.
* Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects at once and to complete quality work in a timely manner in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Skillful in communicating difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
* Outstanding interpersonal and team-building skills.
* Ability to work with computer-based information and systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
* Must be able to maintain a high level of organization throughout all daily activities. To include, but not limited to, documentation of all verbal and written correspondence with others (internal and external), proper filing of such information, planning and scheduling of appointments and the coordination of such with others within the department and/or company, time management and the prioritization of tasks. Must document on the purchase order all details relative to supply of a given component to allow for tracking and/or follow-up by others in the event of absence of the employee.
* Attendance at work, including presence at work during regular working hours or another schedule as may be assigned by the department manager, is essential. Acceptance of overtime assignments may also be required in order to meet departmental goals and objectives.
* Must be courteous and professional to others (internal and external). Must maintain a customer service attitude toward plant, supervisory, and management personnel to ensure that our ultimate customer receives the highest level of service.
* Travel for this position is between 25-30%.
