CI Leader (Logistics) CPC (St. Paul, MN)

Location: Roseville, MN, US

Job Summary:

The CI Leader, reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, is responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives in the logistics department. The individual will work with leadership on identifying the primary drivers to safety, quality, service level, and cost and use Lean methodologies and hands-on leadership to solve problems and drive sustained improvements.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Develop and maintain logistic and distribution metrics, internal analysis tools, or key performance indicators
* Perform data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, service levels, and cost and determine where new/better standards and processes can close identified gaps
* Develop specifications for equipment, tools, facility layouts, or material-handling systems
* Determine logistics support requirements, such as facility details, staffing needs, and equipment needs
* Apply logistics modeling techniques to improve operational processes or facility design and layout
* Evaluate the use of technology to maximize distribution center efficiency and proposed solutions
* Develop and optimize Lean material handling systems, including Plan for Every Part (PFEP), material markets, material delivery routes, and pull signals to link continuous flow to supply of materials ~~.~~
* Apply the Dover Operational Excellence model in relevant areas of logistics to improve material, product, and information flow ~~.~~
* Work closely with IT to efficiently implement logistics systems such as WMS, Oracle, or other
* Champion problem-solving and root cause elimination, applying corrective action tools and countermeasures such that recurrence is not possible
* Design, lead, and conduct kaizen events and daily A3 problem solving on the shop floor to drive an everyone everyday culture of improvement; train logistics personnel in A3 DMAIC problem solving
* Provide leadership in the creation of systems to support achievement of the compelling business need including standard creation and documentation of productivity and standard work processes and other programs as required
* Conduct health checks (audits) of systems and processes, including 5-S, systems execution, safety, quality, and daily direction setting
* Works closely with Packaging, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and IT to streamline and improve flow

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree in operations, supply chain, logistics, industrial engineering, or technical discipline
* 8 years experience in supply chain, logistics, industrial engineering, or operations management
* 3 + years experience leading Lean initiatives with non-exempt employees in a manufacturing or logistics environment
* Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
* Proficient in the use of Excel, Access, and other analytics tools
* Self-driven, adaptable and resourceful; able to work under limited supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

* Project management experience
* Oracle ERP experience

Supervision: 1 Logistics Analyst

Travel: Less than 10%
