Electrical Supervisor 2nd Shift

Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

* The Electrical Controls and Maintenance Supervisor lead and oversee the planning, scheduling and Safety of the hourly workforce on their corresponding shift. This position is also responsible for driving the preventive maintenance systems that are in place to increase overall equipment effectiveness and reliability.
* Background in Motors and Drives (AB/Schneider)
* Background in Mechanical Systems
* Allen-Bradley SLC/CLX, Modicon, Ethernet
* HMI Software (RSView32/SE, Intellution Fix32/iFix, Wonderware InTouch/AppServer, WinCC)
* Proficient using Touch Screen applications
* Working knowledge of process control servers
* Working knowledge of motor controls and variable frequency drives, servo drives, DC drives
* Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E
* Experience in electrical installation (conduit layout & wiring)
* Visual Basic, C, C++, MS .NET, SQL is a plus
* Siemens S5, S7, PCS7 is a plus
* Control Microsystems, Fisher ROC RTU's & Flow Computers is a plus
* Honeywell TDC2000/3000/Experion PKS, Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa CS3000 is a plus

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Efficiency

* Planning and scheduling work force efficiently for utilization of employees.
* Monitor downtime occurrences to maintain consistent operations.
* Monitor the efficiencies of the production lines, paying special attention for maintenance and mechanical trends.

2. Personnel Development

* Train, motivate and direct employees to adhere to safe work methods and standard procedures to ensure efficient utilization of employees.
* Promote teamwork to achieve Company's goals and objectives
* Maintain a cooperative working relationship with USDA officials

3. Expense Control

* Control labor costs
* Purchase of supplies and repair parts with regard to quality
* Control departmental overtime

4. Safety

* Monitor the machinery and equipment to ensure safety of the employees
* Enforce the plant's safety program.
* Compliance to all OSHA safety regulations and standards

PRINCIPAL CHALLENGES/COMPLEXITY

* Maintaining equipment for efficient operation within maintenance budget; operating within the constraint of the union contract and USDA regulations
* Seeks continuous improvement in the Electrical/Maintenance Department employees and the efficiencies of the production lines.
* Continuously evaluate PM/PDM activities and frequencies to ensure optimum use of manpower and resources in maximizing equipment reliability.
* Involve all associates in a team concept, keeping personnel safety, food safety and uptime as the top priorities.
* Plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises the electrical-based work, electricians, and other maintenance personnel engaged in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of facility electrical systems and participates in the more difficult work.
* Conducts periodic inspections and gives on-site supervision over hazardous or unusual work assignments; assures availability of equipment, materials, and supplies.
* Estimates the time and material costs required for projected jobs; keeps cost and job records and submits reports; initiates requisitions for supplies, tools, and equipment and makes recommendations on proposed projects.
* Enforces electrical safety regulations, programs, rules, and working conditions. Assists in the selection of training and in-service programs for maintenance staff for the purpose of conveying information; and ensuring that maintenance employees gain and maintain a thorough understanding of safety regulations and providing guidance on department and regulatory policies/procedures
* Assists in the personnel management of department employees (e.g. selection of new hires, promotions, terminations, transfers, supervising, disciplining, training, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining staffing needs and productivity of the work force.
* Builds high performance teams, which drive system improvements, by utilizing coaching, feedback, personnel assessment, development plans, succession plans, promotion and disciplinary measures.
* Coordinates the services and activities of outside contractors as assigned for the purpose of ensuring that contracted work is completed in a safe, effective and timely manner that it meets facility and ConAgra standards and objectives.
* Responsible for insuring the quality of processes and products and insuring all employees follow Good Manufacturing Practices for food production.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Supervises up to 30 hourly associates including electricians, mechanics and shop personnel.
* Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of shift.
* Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
* Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
* Responsible for insuring the quality of processes and products and insuring all employees follow Good Manufacturing Practices for food production.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

* Associates degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, or equivalent of four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blue prints, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
* Ability to calculate figures.
* Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* Knowledge and experience with Preventative Maintenance programs. Knowledge of Electronic and Electrical principals.
* Experienced at writing: employee appraisals/evaluations, Maintenance procedures and Job Descriptions.
* Must be computer literate.
* CAD/Drafting experience desirable.
* Wonderware Experience with System Platform Experience
