Manager Plant Quality

Job Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager you will ensure food safety and quality of all products produced in the plant. You will ensure specifications are defined and communicated. You will perform inspections of processes, conduct employee training, comply with applicable food laws and regulations and maintain plant HACCP plans to regulatory compliance. You will maintain food safety and customer required certifications and determine best lab practices and provide guidance and adherence to quality policies. You will also participate in resolving customer complaints. As an part of plant leadership team, you will provide support to Sales, R&D and Operations on customer issues.

Position Responsibilities

* Comply with all company and OSHA safety procedures
* Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP)
* Train employees on the Concepts of Food Safety and Quality
* Maintain quality programs and compliance for annual training
* Manage Plant timelines for the Food safety and Quality Improvement Plan and other food safety/quality metrics (ie. Complaint reduction, quality incident reduction, and quality index scores)
* Analyze and communicate quality and safety issues and initiate corrective actions
* Ensure compliance of all regulatory agency requirements ( USDA, FDA, CFIA)
* Liaison with local USDA and FDA inspectors during plant visits
* Provide leadership for compliance to food safety and quality programs
* Be a liaison for all technical and QC issues between operations, RQI, and sales/marketing departments
* Oversee product quality for new product implementation
* Ensure use of applicable plant trial document MOPD and CQV tools. FS&Q pillar owner for Conagra Performance System.
* Use continuous improvement tools (UPS, quality index) to identify opportunity and development improvement plans.

Position Qualifications

* Minimum 5 years experience
* B. S. degree in Biology, Food Science, or other related program
* Experience reading and analyzing common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
* Presentation experience
* Apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis; formalize process capability, institutionalizing process control and predictive quality process
* PCQI, HACCP and SQF practitioner certified (willing to obtain certifications

* While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are required to talk and hear. You are frequently required to stand and walk. You are occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell. You must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. You will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
