Job Description

This position is responsible for safely and efficiently carrying out all duties and responsibilities of the Hassia filler and downstream packaging equipment areas. Packaging Technicians are specifically responsible for operating and maintaining the aseptic Form/Fill/Seal systems and supporting all of the responsibilities of operating and maintaining the secondary packaging equipment. This position will report to and is assigned to a scheduled crew (i.e. A, B, C, D). Production Technicians are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment in the assigned production area while adhering to all quality standards.

Essential Functions:

* Follow Standard Operating Procedures within the assigned work area.
* Perform product checks to verify quality measures.
* Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and monitor assigned equipment.
* Complete equipment sanitation, maintain a clean work area and follow all 5S requirements
* Participate in continuous improvement activities.
* Understand and apply concepts in technical vendor manuals.
* Use a variety of tools including precision, hand and powered.
* Identify and communicate any safety, quality or operational issues to the appropriate resources.
* Ability to read and use instrumentation (temperature, pressure, etc.)
* Demonstrate ability to read and understand blueprints and Process Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs)
* Knowledge of pneumatics/hydraulics, motors/drives/gearboxes/power transmission systems
* Skill in fabricating and machining spare parts
* Demonstrate ability to effectively work in a team environment
* Provides back up for other Technician positions.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

* Two-year technical degree (i.e. documented training/education in areas of power distribution, instrumentation, basic pneumatics, drives, servos, basic hydraulics, blueprint reading, and PLC control); OR technical training in the military with a minimum rank of E-5; OR seven (7) years documented work experience in skills noted above, plus high school diploma or equivalent.
* One year experience in a manufacturing facility, food production preferred
* Experience with mechanical concepts preferred

Additional Requirements:

* Varying levels of overtime may be required based on business needs.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Effectively communicate with others.
* PC based computer literacy

Work Environment Requirements:

* Position works in a manufacturing environment with varying conditions including moderate noise levels.
* Ability to move within office and manufacturing facilities, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
* Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
* Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
* General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
