Job Description

Scope of Position:

The Line Operator will be responsible to ensure SQF (Safe Quality Food), food safety and Quality Assurance requirements are met by monitoring and maintaining line and freezer speeds. The Line Operator also monitors and maintains fryer oil temperature as well as freezer temperatures. In addition to normal operating responsibilities, the associate must maintain the high standards of good housekeeping practices. The associate will be required to assume the responsibilities of the Production Lead position when deemed necessary. This position is also responsible for maintaining the highest efficiencies, quality products and volume while adhering to quality standards and report to Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Individual must be capable of performing all of the following job duties as required:

* Must have excellent communication skills.
* Responsible for necessary documents and QA checks in a timely manner by taking weights of fish (raw, battered/breaded and fried), and recording data at predetermined intervals.
* Ensure that product is running to standard in regards to weight, color, speed, etc., and make adjustments to process to maintain efficient operation of line; monitor battering and breading process and make adjustments as needed to maintain product quality specs.
* Must understand and follow all SOPs and GMPs for producing quality product, report all deviations to process procedures, and actively work to correct any process deviation in the minimum time. Actively work to maintain and improve production processes and must be able to document processes for others to follow.
* Must be able to effectively lead, direct, and communicate information to a designated group of employees when the Production Lead is not available. Associate will be required to assume the responsibilities of the Lead position when directed.
* Monitor freezer speeds and temperature, and inspect inside of freezer for ice or product buildup during shift and clear jams.
* Monitor production schedule and coordinate changeovers with Leads and/or Supervisor.
* Record all downtime and reasons in the CDC system.
* Must be able to perform all start up and shut down cleaning and sanitizing functions on the lines as well as direct line employees.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
* SPC training or strong math skills.
* May be required to work over time as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a matrix organization are required. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, mechanically inclined, and have strong basic skills. Candidate must have working knowledge of Statistical Process Control, GMPs, and HACCP. Candidate must have basic math/business math skills and must be capable of receiving OSHA Certified Forklift Operator training. In addition, then candidate will have no more than three (3) attendance points and no disciplinary actions above an oral warning in the past twelve (12) months, and have a general understanding of plant policies and procedures and demonstrate leadership skills. Education and / or Experience:

High School diploma or General Education degree (GED) required; further education in a relevant area is a plus.

Reasoning Ability:

Must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
