Job Description:

Caterpillars Resource Industries Operations and Products division is currently seeking a (Lead )1st shift Fabrication Section Manager for its Decatur, IL Facility. In this role you will lead teams and supervise people in manufacturing sections to maximize efficiency in quality, velocity and cost.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Lead Value Stream of ~25 employees with a focus on People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost
* Provides guidance for 2nd and 3rd shift Section Manager counterparts
* Monitors and improves shop floor safety, aggressively eliminates unsafe processes and behaviors
* Assures fixtures, tooling and processes are followed to meet production schedules
* Schedules, prioritizes constrained resources, adjusts staff to meet flow and customer requirements
* Increases production efficiency through continuous improvement and waste elimination
* Increases product quality through continuous improvement and waste elimination
* Determines and executes disciplinary action when appropriate
* Implements Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification and others: and evaluates, assess, identifies and leads the deployment of workforce training
* Practices and teaches CPS Guiding Principles
* Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and
ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule
* Drives root cause corrective action projects and drives continuous improvement
* Leads section status reporting and monitors / audits section metrics
* Accountable for the training, understanding and execution of standard work procedures

Basic Qualifications:

* Associate degree from an accredited college or university
* In lieu of a degree, 5+ years manufacturing/fabrication experience and a minimum of 2 years experience as a Section Manager or Lead supervisor
* 2+ years experience in fabrication/manufacturing environment

Top candidates will also have:

* Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
* Caterpillar Green Belt Certification
* 5+ years experience in manufacturing/fabrication with at least 3 years Section Manager or Lead supervisor experience
* Requires a thorough knowledge of CPS processes and tools, fabrication practices, and quality initiatives.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office products
* Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
* Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside your department
* Strong Background in leadership, team building and execution
* Ability to work with a diverse group of employees
* Experience leading in a union environment
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing
* Previous Fabrication experience
