Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.
The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
The Credit and PPNR Modeling (CAPM) Center of Excellence (CoE) resides within Corporate Credit Risk and is responsible for development and implementation of the following models:
* Credit loss estimation models for the entire loan portfolio to support estimation of risk weighted assets (RWA) in compliance with BASEL regulations; allowance for credit loss (including current expected credit loss preparation); and, economically sensitive credit loss estimation in compliance with Dodd Frank and the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Reporting exercises (CCAR).
* Models to support Pre-Provision Net Revenue (PPNR) estimates including forecasting models to support Dodd Frank and the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Reporting exercises (CCAR).
We are seeking a dynamic individual with experience in managing a large scale data infrastructure and environment consisting of variety of internal and external data sources to support portfolio analytics and modeling, in developing and maintaining models and analytics in the following major areas:
* Credit Loss forecast models for Allowance, Stress Testing and Capital
* Balance/Interest Income forecast Models
* Recovery and Resolution Planning
This position joins a high functioning, high profile team and requires the presence and professional demeanor necessary to interact effectively with team members across CaPM, various data partners, lines of business (LOB), oversight, validation, and audit organizations. The candidate must demonstrate strong data analysis or data modeling along with data management skills with the ability to understand various product features, underlying data attributes and applications and translate them into data solutions.
Responsibilities of this role will include, but not be limited to the following:
* Managing a large and diverse historical and current commercial data sources from internal and external source and environment for modeling and other portfolio analytics
* Develop data processes and related enhancements for regular updates, portfolio analytics, model development while taking into account upstream data changes or relationships, identifying impacts and solutions with effective testing and implementation
* Develop, document and manage appropriate methods and tools to supplement credit loss, balance forecasting models for commercial loans portfolio and debt securities; Develop appropriate framework including qualitative approaches, data and process design treatments for unique segments within the loans or securities portfolio
* Managing large analytics and data science projects working with onshore or offshore resources, mentoring or guiding junior or other analytics staff
* Undertake various portfolio and related data research, able to leverage existing or build additional quantitative or qualitative methods or tools on existing or emerging portfolio risks
* Provide analytical support and offer insights for analytic projects and data research using variety of internal and external data sources
* Support additional data research for trend analysis from variety of data sources, develop processes and methods to ensure completeness and accuracy of data, and research discrepancies and data issues to remediate the issues
* Extract and analyze existing or new data fields for future development and analytics projects use
* Develop processes to ensure data control and quality checks on input and output datasets, and ensure strong data documentation and lineage
* Interact with internal and external data and process partners, CaPM Model Development and Production teams to develop and implement appropriate process controls, changes and enhancements
* Engage with various audit and data governance groups to develop and demonstrate effective data quality, well designed and controlled processes
* Adhere to various governance and validation requirements to ensure processes are in compliance with policies and are working as intended, address audit and regulatory feedback
* Coherently support analysis and effectively communicate with business partners, external and internal audits, and other stakeholders as required
Required Qualifications
* 4+ years of experience in an advanced scientific or mathematical field
* A master's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science

* Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
Other Desired Qualifications
* Ideally would like to see 6+ years of experience in a data or modeling group developing, managing or maintaining variety of data sources or databases
* 4+ years of experience with Teradata or other equivalent databases, including experience creating and maintaining tables
* In-depth experience with strong data programming, large scale data querying and analysis skills including
* Advanced SQL, SAS and Python
* Experience with LINUX/UNIX analytical platforms, and SAS to Teradata or other databases interfaces
* Experience implementing, coding and de-bugging large and complex data processes
* Direct experience in analytical data creation for modeling/portfolio analytics and writing strong documentation, presentations
* Good understanding and experience in applying analytical techniques such as linear models, logistic regression, time series models or other machine/statistical learning models
* Ability to present analysis using tools such Excel/Tableau/SAS, clearly articulate issues and identify solutions
* Hands-on experience in Python, Hadoop, GitHub or similar data management or programming tools
* Knowledge of Commercial or Retail Banking credit products, underlying credit or other portfolio metrics, underlying data with management policies and procedures
* Familiar with industry data sources such as SNL/ EDF/Agency Ratings/GCD or regulatory reporting data sets (e.g. Call Reports, Y9C, 14a)
* Familiarity with model application such as loss forecasting, stress testing, allowance and capital estimation
* Intellectually curious, self-motivated with strong interests in developing new methods, processes and approaches
