Summary of Internship

The Electrical Engineering Internship position provides an opportunity for engineering students who are currently pursuing a electrical engineering, or like engineering degree to get hands on experience working with engineers in a fast-paced product development design on hardware, software and related BPCs with exposure to integration and quality/problem solving environment. The electrical engineering intern will contribute to development projects and advance best design practices. The position starts in May, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Other opportunities may or may not exist for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.

Essential Functions

* Provide engineering support related to product development projects including design, prototyping and testing of electro-mechanical system and their controls
* Support a variety of engineering activities and may be assigned to a variety of engineering tasks throughout the department including creating work instructions, test protocols, validation and compliance
* Be involved with many aspects of product engineering including CAD modeling, electrical schematics, prototyping, analysis and problem solving tasks
* Programming PLCs and HMIs and recipe development
* Provide feedback on specifications and designs
* Learn about data acquisition and instrumentation through daily activities
* Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements
* Specific tasks will be tailored to the engineering interns experience level and abilities
* May be assigned to work and support Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Molding Engineering or Facility & Maintenance
* A engineering intern works under the close supervision of engineers, project managers, and engineering managers

* Desire to contribute and improve design of new and existing products
* Exceptional customer focus
* Desire to teach other engineers about technology in area of expertise
* Willingness to learn programming for PLCs and or HMIs or similar applications
* Familiarity with of least one CAD development tool set such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or similar program
* Ability to create drawings and schematics with minimum oversight including drawing dimensioning and tolerancing
* Aptitude for math, writing, creating presentations and communication at different levels
* Hands on work ethic
* Detail oriented

Qualifications

* Pursing an undergrad degree in an electrical engineering related engineering discipline
* Electrical engineering, or like engineering field
* General physics, statics, dynamics, principles of electrical engineering knowledge preferred
