Position Summary
Accountable for leading a team to ensure scientifically accurate and strategically aligned communication of Health Economic Outcomes Research (HEOR) evidence across Cardiovascular, Immunology, and Fibrosis through publications informing medical and access community around the world.
Key Responsibilities
A core member of Worldwide HEOR Scientific Publications Leadership Team, the Director (Team Lead) is accountable for:
* Lead a team of direct reports to deliver HEOR Publications book of work across Cardiovascular, Immunology, and Fibrosis.
* Ensure that each direct report is effective at following:
* Leading across the BMS matrix to develop strategically aligned HEOR publication plan for an assigned asset/indication.
* Working across Medical Capabilities and other stakeholders to obtain critical insights and ensure alignment of each planned publication with strategy.
* Partnering with a Clinical Publication lead to ensure seamless integration of the HEOR publication plan into an overall scientific publication plan for an assigned asset/indication.
* Ensuring endorsement of communication plans by governance bodies prior to execution.
* Serving as a key business partner to WW HEOR colleagues in determining strategic targeting of HEOR communications at congresses and journals, as well as assessing and their potential impact on medical and access communities.
* Leading the publication plan execution through timely submissions and effective delivery of congress presentations and journal articles.
* Ensuring seamless integration of HEOR data disclosures into planning and execution of key congresses following congress strategic framework.
* Partnering on execution of the scientific platform (abstracts, presentations, and related scientific content) across Medical Capabilities at assigned International and domestic congresses
* Serving as the subject matter expert on publication-related matters involving the HEOR publication plan and as a publications point of contact for key stakeholders.
* Critically reviewing HEOR publication drafts ensuring clear, accurate and scientifically rigorous communication, which are aligned and consistent with author direction.
* Partnering with Medical Communication Execution Leads to assess, plan, and allocate resources to ensure timely delivery of high-quality communications within budget targets.
* Managing 3rd-party providers to ensure timely delivery of quality publications.
* Ensuring HEOR publication plans and associated publications are delivered according to good publication practices and BMS standards and policies.
* Reinforcing good publication practices and principles among authors and internal publication stakeholder community.
Qualifications & Experience
* Advanced degree: PharmD, PhD or MD
* A minimum of 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry.
* Experience of delivering scientific publication strategy, planning and execution during various phases of drug development and commercialization (investigational, registrational, pre & postlaunch, and marketed)
* Demonstrated ability to lead and execute publication planning in a highly matrixed environment, working across wide range of functional areas of the pharmaceutical industry
* Understanding of basic Health Economic Outcomes Research methods.
* Understanding of Healthcare Market Access landscape in the main healthcare markets around the world
* Understanding of good publication practices and guidance (GPP3, ICMJE), Sunshine Act, Pharma Code of Conduct, and other guidance related to post-marketing practices and scientific data communication
* Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional time management skills
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Knowledge Desired
* Certification as a Medical Publication Professional (CMPP)
* Prior experience in Access, HEOR, HEOR Communications, or Medical Strategy and product launch
* Prior experience in either of the therapy areas of Cardiovascular, Immunology, or Fibrosis
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications and familiarity with publication management tools and systems
