The Windows, Developers and Experiences (WDX) organization is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to architect, design and develop user experiences that turn our vision into reality.

WDX works across Microsoft to demonstrate empathy and make customers happy. On this team, you will orchestrate and deliver software that ensures Windows is a great user experience for our customers. Some of the key areas that our team owns in Windows are: Magnifier, Color Filters, Closed Captioning, Text Cursor, Accessibility Settings experience. You will play a key role in open-minded explorations, identifying, prototyping and furthering business opportunities for Windows.

In this role, you will have a wide range of opportunities to learn, grow, impact and mentor others in the team. Responsibilities include

* demonstrating technical leadership
* designing and building experiences using the latest cutting-edge AI/ML technologies and UI technologies like XAML
* designing new APIs
* influencing the quality and maintainability of the codebase through engineering efficiency
* establishing partnerships and collaborating with various teams across the company spanning across disciplines (Program Managers, Engineers, Designers, Data).

* Proactive, self-motivated, and passionate about contributing to positive team culture.
* 6+ years of experience in architecting & developing scalable, reliable and performant system-level software in C/C++/Java
* Strategic thinker who can identify inclusive engineering opportunities across multiple business groups, independently drive alignment and execute action plans that bring focus and synergy
* Strong design, coding, problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
* Strong collaborator, willingness to learn, passion for delightful user experiences.
* Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, OR equivalent industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience developing Natural User Interfaces that leverage artificial intelligence.
* 2+ years experience in technical leadership in driving engineering roadmaps, leading v-teams, mentoring and helping others grow technically.
* Experience with Assistive Technologies is a plus
