Basic Function
Accountable for providing direction and technical support for the Morris plant logistics department. Manage the raw material and product unloading/loading operations at the site including railcar movement. Responsible for directing 25-30 contractors that primarily perform the logistics operations at the site.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Manage the daily raw material and product unloading/loading activities and rail movements at the site and issue daily department operating instructions.
2. Provide direction to 25-30 contractors that perform loading/unloading operations, railcar switching, and railcar repairs.
3. Interface with the production units and logistics operations to ensure proper product transportation availability to meet business plans.
4. Monitor site railcar counts to ensure safe and efficient switching operations.
5. Act as contractor host for 3rd party vendors such as rail inspection and repair contractors and truck/rail scale calibration companies.
6. Site point of contact for CSX and CN railcar shipping and receiving.
7. Ensure the safety and availability of the sites railroads by having the proper inspections and repairs executed.
8. Investigate and provide findings and corrective actions for customer complaints to prevent reoccurrence.
9. Respond to transportation related incidents on and off site that involve materials originating from the Morris plant. Provide direction and information to emergency responders for issue resolution.
10. Develop annual budgetary requirements and monitor budget adherence throughout the year for responsible areas.
11. Ensure department standard operating procedures and training are accurate and up to date through necessary reviews and feedback from end users. Develop new procedures and training as necessary.
12. Fill responsibilities as MIO site hazardous material coordinator to ensure PHMSA compliance.
Min. Qualifications
This position requires minimum ten (10) plus years of Operations/Maintenance experience. Experience as an Operations or Maintenance Supervisor is preferred. To effectively perform the duties of this position, the individual must possess and demonstrate a thorough technical understanding of plant chemical processes, unit operations, and federal transportation regulations. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required due to the frequent interaction with department, maintenance and unit operations personnel, federal authorities, business management and other functional corporate groups. This position supports the shift organization in a 24 hour, 365 day per year operation.
