Job Description

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Manager, Interior Design to join our team at the Irving - 909 Hidden Ridge location in Irving, Texas.

Job Summary

The Interior Design Manager will perform brand compliance reviews and work in close collaboration with the Brand Leaders on the implementation of new design concepts. They will assist in the maintenance of brand standards and provide revisions to FF+E packages for multiple hospitality brands as required to keep the product dynamic and marketable. They will be required to offer support to new construction projects as well as conversions and renovations of existing properties. As an integral member of a flexible team, they will be required to interface with hotel owners, franchisees, and vendors. They will be responsible for the management and execution of major brand initiatives to include development of new FF&E packages.

Scope

The primary function of the Interior Design Manager is to manage major brand initiatives where they will be responsible and accountable for project costs, deadlines, and cost/quality of the final product. This affects both the balance sheet for the company as a whole as well as the cost of our specified packages to our franchisees.

The Interior Design Manager also has responsibility for answering questions and compliance submittals for their assigned brands in the interior.design@wyndham.com mailbox. This mailbox is time-sensitive and the review of design submittals within the specified timeframe is crucial for our hotels to be able to stay on schedule for their opening dates. These reviews also affect some pending deals where FF&E waiver approvals are included in franchise agreements.

Travel Requirements
As part of the Wyndham Design team, the Interior Design Manager will participate in several tradeshows including BDNY, held every November for 2 days in New York City and the Wyndham Global Conference, held every 18 months for 1 week in Las Vegas, NV. The Interior Design Manager will also be required to travel for occasional model room reviews for approximately 2 days each, 4-6 times per year. (Overall travel approximately 10%)
Competencies

Assist in creating concept presentations in PowerPoint and In Design, including research of imagery
Assist in owner, Brand and SLT meetings
Manage outsourced design companies ensuring scheduled deliverables are met
Assemble and layout Design Boards, digitally in In Design or Power Point and using physical material samples for presentation to Brand and SLT.
Render drawings using Adobe Photoshop
Coordinate custom furniture designs with manufacturers including spec writing and shop drawing review
Develop space plans for both Guestrooms and Public Areas in AutoCAD. Handsketching a plus
Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects
Maintain ongoing relationships with vendors and research new vendors and materials

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Interior Design from a FIDER or CIDA accredited program or equivalent
Minimum 5 to 10 years work experience in hospitality design with a leading hospitality design firm(s)
Experienced in working with and knowledgeable of multiple hotel brands standards in multiple market tiers
Strong presentation and communication skills, both oral and written
Experience preparing concept and schematic presentations
Experience preparing presentation design boards
Experience writing FF&E specifications
Strong computer skills with proficiency in AutoCAD 2007 (or higher), Photoshop, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, InDesign, Excel, and SPEXX

Complexities

Ability to develop space plans, elevations and graphic documentation based on programming interpretations
Research & develop FF+E packages for Brands and individual properties
The Interior Design Manager will be given great autonomy but also responsibility in managing brand initiatives. The final deliverables have a great impact on the companys bottom line and ability to competitively sell our product to our existing and potential new franchisors.

The Interior Design Manager will be required to make independent decisions to approve or reject submitted FF&E items based on review against Wyndham performance standards and brand standard requirements. They will exercise judgement on when to seek advice on these decisions or when brand approval/involvement is required. Because they will be required to interface with hotel owners, franchisees, and vendors, these actions and decisions have a great impact on the companys operations and public perception.
