Responsibilities
Job Summary: Lead HIM/Medical Records Specialist performs all functions of an HIM Specialist I in conjunction with additional lead functions of the department such as metric reporting, project set up, hiring and training. This individual will perform all duties related to chart retrieval including obtaining medical records from various Electronic Health Records Systems as well as onsite record retrievals. The Lead Specialist is responsible for maintaining the efficient daily workflow of obtaining the patients' health charts and ensuring the team is achieving goals while identify barriers preventing them to do so. This position requires great accuracy with repetitive tasks, good organizational and multi-tasking skills, professionalism, and most importantly leadership skills. Experience with Health Information Management (HIM) and exposure to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is required.
Qualifications
Regulatory Requirements:
* High School diploma.
* 2-3 years' experience with Health Information Management (HIM) and exposure to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) required.
* Medical Assistant (MA) certification preferred.
* Experience in a medical insurance office preferred
Language Skills:
* Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Skills:
* Proficient computer skills and ability to learn various software systems.
* Able to download, sort, rename and file documents electronically
* Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
* Customer service experience both direct and phone.
* Ability to be innovative and take initiative.
* Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervisor.
* Attention to detail to maintain medical records according to standards.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
