JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Strategic Sourcing supervises, coordinates, provides leadership to and reviews the work of Sourcing Managers. Responsible for delivering the sourcing results for a given set of categories, including developing a business case for supplier award recommendations, leading the development of supplier negotiation strategies, overseeing all supplier cost increases and decreases to minimize Syscos cost of goods. The Director of Strategic Sourcing collaborates with both internal and external business partners to understand demand and supplier trends, has a solid understanding of true component costing and analyses financial data related to the total cost of ownership to identify opportunities for cost reductions. The Director oversees both supplier relationships and contract management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Leads and promotes Syscos Category Management Sourcing process.
* Provide strategic sourcing leadership to deliver on Syscos initiatives related to the cost of goods reductions, cost avoidance, and supplier evaluations.
* Leads team in the development of a fact-based negotiation strategy.
* Assists in, and where appropriate personally directs, negotiations with major suppliers with support of Sourcing Managers.
* Serves as a liaison between Category Management, Supply Chain, Sysco OPCOs (operating company) and other Sysco departments for both routine business processes as well as problem-solving.
* Continuously improves the existing processes and systems using advanced skills, knowledge, and understanding.
* Provides leadership to the Strategic Sourcing team, including; key activities within the Sysco sourcing process, legal documentation, supply chain modeling, net cost evaluation, earned income, etc.
* Provides leadership and guidance for component costing/ clean sheet/ should-cost models.
* Develops supplier level strategies to support the Sourcing Manager's efforts to minimize cost increases, identify timing and request for cost decreases, and maintains a database of all cost changes.
* Responsible for ensuring Sourcing Manager's analysis of supplier initiated cost changes are supported by relevant market data.
* Responsible for managing, coaching, developing and leading the team to drive results.
* Oversee and guide all vendor contract negotiations.
* Develop appropriate supplier-specific strategies and supervise the standardization and centralization of all local programs for any corporately managed supplier.
* Develop and implement, with the support of Sourcing Managers, new earned income programs that deliver the highest level of profitability.
* Leverage the current supplier base while emphasizing the continued development of an expanded supplier network.
* Identifies employee development needs and provides coaching.
* Trains and provides development opportunities within the Sourcing Team.
* Consistently embraces change, leads efforts to role model change and its benefits.
* Assists in achieving department SBOs (strategic bonus objectives) and Supplier Diversity goals

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

* Bachelors Degree
* Masters Degree or MBA preferred

Experience

* 8-10 years related experience within CPG, Retail or Foodservice industry or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* Significant experience within sourcing/ procurement required.
