POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Fire Inspector/Service Tech is a technician who spends the majority of their time in the field on customer sites. They provide the technical skills and abilities for inspecting and testing automatic fire alarm and sprinkler systems in accordance with local, county, state, and federal mandated standards at contractually prescribed frequencies. They are integral in supporting the customer with accountability for managing the Customer Experience at their assigned job sites. The skills required in a Fire Inspector/Service Tech may vary depending upon the job location they are deployed in, though there are some basic requirements that each Fire Inspector should possess.

This position will work closely with other departments such as Sales, Engineering and Core Operations as well as with external product manufacturers and sub-contracting companies.
Follows an established schedule to inspect automatic fire alarm and sprinkler systems at the customer premises.
Inspects control panels and wiring for trouble indications.
Tests and inspects the condition/operability of devices (sensors), standby battery, power sources, and alarm transmitting controls.
Simulates alarm conditions at initiating points by using test switches and valves, or by carefully applying heat, test smoke or manufacturers specified methods or devices.
Ensures alarm signals are properly transmitted by the controls and received by the monitoring Customer Service Center.
May make minor repairs of systems by replacing inoperative circuit boards, damaged components, low batteries, etc. Seeks opportunities for change orders.
Maintains tests and inspection records for the customer locations securing them appropriately as directed by their branch for safe keeping. Responsible for proper documentation of inspections issues/actions/resolution both internally and externally.
Assists representatives from the branch, fire insurance, fire rating or alarm certification community in the testing of customer systems.
Promotes, builds upon and maintains good customer relations and assists with contract retention. Projects professionalism and a positive image to customers and suppliers maintain a clean, orderly and professional vehicle image as well as personal image.
Keeps abreast of changes and new developments in products and technology. Attends and completes training programs as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

* High school diploma or GED
* 1+ years of experience installing and/or servicing intrusion, fire alarm, access control, and CCTV security systems with basic understanding of electronics, wiring, local and national codes
* 1+ years experience with fire inspections or fire testing and working knowledge or UL systems
* A valid state drivers license, without restrictions

Preferred:

* 06 Electrical License

* NICET 1 and 2 certifications

* City of Seattle FA-1 and FA-ITM certifications

* Vocational/technical degree in electrical, security, or computer systems
* Bosch, DMP, Edwards/EST, Honeywell, Radionics, Simplex and/or GE/Mirtone system knowledge
* ESA Alarm Technician Certificate
* Demonstrated Technical aptitude and basic understanding of electronics, wiring, local and national codes
