Sr Tech Support Harness Design and Drafting Engineer

Job Description

The Mechanical Products Team within Engineering at Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) is searching for an engineer with experience in Harness Design and Drafting. Candidate will perform a wide variety of tasks in support of the engineering and manufacturing organizations. Tasks may include developing solutions to a variety of complex problems using established standards and processes. Candidate will use CREO Parametric to include CREO Cabling Module, to prepare mechanical design layouts, detail and assembly drawings and models. Candidate will also use CREO Schematic to prepare wiring diagram documentation.

Note: This position can be Salary Grade G08 (Sr. Tech Support Engineer I Harness Designer) or Salary Grade G09 (Sr. Tech Support Engineer II- Harness Designer) based upon the applicants qualifications as they relate to the skills, leadership, experience and responsibility requirements of the position.

U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment

Required Experience, Skills & Education:

* For Sr. Tech Support Engineer I Harness Designer- Minimum of four (4) years of mechanical design experience; may include areas such as harnessing, cabling, or electrical/mechanical packaging.
* For or Sr. Tech Support Engineer II Harness Designer - Minimum of six (6) years of mechanical design experience; may include areas such as harnessing or cabling or electrical/mechanical packaging.
* Experience with CREO or ProE CAD tool
* Experience with Windchill (Common PDM) data management tool
* Bachelor Degree or Eight (8) years of additional related professional work experience in lieu of a degree

Desired Experience, Skills & Education:

* Background in manufacturing methods and processes of harness design such as IPC-WHMA-A-620 and/or SAE AS50881.
* Experienced user of CREO Cabling Module, Creo Cable Manufacturing (Flat) Module and CREO Schematic
* Candidate must have a full knowledge of industry practices and standards used in drafting, modeling, and design development
* Candidate must be able to identify and correct design, model, or drawing deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
* Technical knowledge of common industry connector specifications (D38999, M24308, M83513, M32139, M55302) and their appropriate applications
* Technical knowledge of Mil-Spec wire and cable
* Technical knowledge sufficient to perform complex tasks such as preparation of all types of detail drawings, large assemblies, interface drawings, and various layouts for design concepts
* Technical knowledge using documentation specifications such as MIL-DTL-31000, Y14.5M, ASME Y14.24 and ASME Y14.100
* Ability to apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
* Knowledge of Raytheon Drafting Standards and Mechanical Engineering Process for documentation preparation
* Working knowledge of RMD processes and procedures
* Experience with CREO Sheet Metal Module
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Effective oral and written communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently
* Demonstrate leadership skills
* Existing secret clearance is highly desirable
* Bachelor Degree in Computer Aided Design, Engineering Technology, Information Technology or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
