Seeking undergraduate and graduate college students for Vulnerability Researcher (VR), Low-Level Software Developer, and Reverse Engineer (RE) internships for the Summer of 2021. We're looking for people who want to break things and have fun doing it. We're looking for developers, hackers, researchers, and engineers with an interest in information security and low level development. We refuse any work that isnt hard and engaging. Our research and development projects cover the spectrum of security technologies for Computer Network Operations. If it runs code, somebody in our office has looked at it. Thats why we are called Cyber Offense/Defense Experts (CODEX). Projects are undertaken on small teams in close coordination with customers to quickly deliver or enhance capabilities.
Cyber Security research continues to be a growth industry and we are constantly looking to find the right candidates who can do this challenging work. If youre comfortable living in the kernel, developing drivers, or stepping through code without the source, wed love to hear from you! If you've discovered a kernel paged pool exploit, modified JIT engines to add your own instrumentation to mitigate entire vulnerability classes, created a heap-based buffer overflow with ASLR/DEP defeats, used solvers to highlight interesting call/dataflow graphs, or created custom hardware emulators you'll be right at home in CODEX.
Required Qualifications:
* Ability to adapt both an offensive and defensive mindset to support securing information systems
* Demonstrated experience implementing computer security
* Ability to work with limited supervision and must be a self-starter with initiative
* Demonstrated ability to research and create detailed computing system documentation and operational guides/procedures
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse user community in quick-response situations
Vulnerability Researchers:
* Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Bash, Powershell)
* Some knowledge of how to debug a system (GDB, WinDbg, JTAG, etc.)
* Familiar with how the compiler, assembler and linker work to build ELF / PE files
* Assembly language experience or familiarity (x86, ARM, PPC, MIPS)
Software Developers:
* Coding skills in C/C++ and/or Python
* Coding design patterns and algorithms
Reverse Engineering:
* Reverse engineering experience (e.g. IDA Pro, WinDbg, ollydbg, gdb, objdump)
* Hardware emulation development (e.g. QEMU, Unicorn, Panda, VHDL)
Desired Qualifications:
* Computer network operations experience (e.g. CTFs, red/blue teams, pentesting)
* Networked communications development (e.g. TCP/UDP sockets, Bluetooth, GSM)
* Cryptographic experience (e.g. implementing AES, side channel attacks)
* Mobile/embedded development (e.g. Android, iOS, Raspberry Pi)
* Active U.S. Government Security Clearance
Required Education:
Pursuing a Bachelors degree in engineering-relevant field (e.g. CS, CPE, EE) A GPA of 3.0+ is strongly desired. Please include your GPA and transcript with your resume.
Security Clearance:
U.S. Citizenship is required. Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI government security clearance.
Our Interviews:
Our interviews are technical. Come prepared to tell us about your technical background and interests as well as to work through some of our questions on a computer or whiteboard. We hope candidates find our questions to be thought provoking, but we dont ask brain teasers or tricks. This is a chance to have a dialog with our team, and we hope you will enjoy it! This position can be for a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Internship based on the candidates qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
Freshman status must have completed up to 29 hours of college credits towards degree as of Summer 2021.
Sophomore status must have completed 30 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Sophomore status as of Summer 2021.
Junior status must have completed 60 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Junior status as of Summer 2021.
Senior status must have completed 90 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Senior status as of Summer 2021.
Grad status must be enrolled in a Masters Degree Program.
