Senior Java Software Engineer located in Redwood City, CA

Strong Java development skills required to help develop features in Oracle%27s Database.

We are on the process of enlarging our footprint in the Cloud and adding Reactive Stream and Machine Learning capabilities. Your participation in this effort will be crucial.

Degree level (BS/MS/PhD): BS/MS/PhD

Major(s): Computer Science or Engineer related

Programming languages: Java (C is also useful)

Tools, software, etc: Oracle Database, OS Linux, REST/HTTP

Preferred coursework: Data Structures, Distributed Computing, Parallel Computing, High Performance Computing.

Other qualifications:

Excellent communication skills and working in team environment.

Take pride in writing very high quality, high performance code.

Strong experience designing large-scale systems software like relational database systems.

Good understanding about networking, distributed and parallel computing.

Experience of multi-threaded programming with concurrency and synchronization.

Work on multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, exciting and rapidly growing environment.

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
