Who we are looking for
As our Apparel Designer I in Jordan Women's, you'll utilize your exceptional design skills to build original, style-led designs that accurately reflect Jordans design philosophy and lead the industry. Through continued research and consumer connection, you are able to quickly anticipate and identify key trends, that translate into relevant products that resonate with our consumers. You also respond to business objectives with creative design solutions aligned to consumer insights. The ideal candidate needs to be a highly creative problem solver, who doesnt settle for anything less than the best designs, to meet the needs of the consumer or athlete. This person will be passionate about bringing to life the seasonal creative direction through apparel design and innovations that are trend relevant to the consumer.
What you will work on
If this is you, youll be partnering with the Jordan Graphic Designers, Color Designers, Developers, and Product Line Managers, and bringing to life the seasonal creative direction through Apparel Design and innovations. You'll lead design product processes to ensure design results and timelines are met. This opportunity also involves partnering with Design Leadership and category team members in Design, Development and Merchandising to ensure design feasibility while meeting price points, merchandising needs and product creation timelines. You'll provide prototype sampling information, including fabrication, trim, color, graphic applications, style, detail, fit requirements and construction detail.
You'll also monitor the development of prototype samples and interact with our Development, Pattern Making, Material, and the Sample Room to exchange ideas and ensure timely completion of each project. You'll maintain and continually expand upon expert knowledge of current trends, color, and consumer-related products through market travel and research. You'll provide guidance to Designers and team members and share knowledge, experience, skills and best practices with others. From concepting to crafting seasonal collections, from working with manufacturing partners to communicating directly with athletes and collaborators, the daily responsibilities of this role are wide ranging, ambitious, and rewarding.
WHAT YOU BRING
* Bachelor's Degree in Apparel Design and 1-5 years' prior design work experience
* Ability to apply and perform design skills such as: drawing/sketching, ideation, digital product creation and visual presentation development.
* Familiarity with current trends, color and design.
* Basic understanding of pattern making, draping, materials, trims, garment fit, garment construction, and manufacturing
* Basic knowledge of the apparel industry, marketing principles, and development process
