WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking an Art Director for our NYC Studio who looks across all categories and a team of multidisciplinary designers, working closely with both producers and narrators to deliver well crafted and innovative creative. Art Directors drive design excellence and collaboration across multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that the team deliver holistic creative against the seasonal brand strategy. Coaches multiple designers and builds opportunities for individual development, performance management, recognition and rewards. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

* You will work with the Sr Creative Director of NYC Studio to develop the city & category visual directions.
* Drive the cross category Art Direction with Design teams, providing inspiration, mentorship, support and direction.
* Deliver outstanding photography, videography direction, typography & branding application direction, and digital design direction in service of the city brand marketing categories.
* Develop and maintain relationships with photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, designers, motion graphic studios and their agents, working strategically with other leads in the team (brand narrative & digital art director) to ensure the strongest approach to external talent.
* Define art direction for Category Marketing video shoots, ensuring our content is always on-brand, diverse, contemporary, desirable and within agreed budgets.
* Keep up to date with emerging trends in fashion, design, film, art, media and technology as relevant to Nike and the design team.
* Collaborate with styling, marketing, tech, retail, photography and editorial to lead teams through the concept process and projects.
* Ensure all projects are well-planned, creatively exceptional, and delivered timely as well as being aware of the budget realities.
* Review project work for highest standards of quality, consistency and success.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will partner with the Sr. Creative Director and your NYC Creative Studio team, as well as the NYC Brand Category teams, Geo Category Art Directors and Geo Leadership team - all while leading a small team of designers.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE:

* Minimum 7+ years graphic design and art direction experience in a branded content, agency, editorial or marketing environment.
* A passion for the Athlete*, Sport* and Culture.
* Understanding of NYC and the surrounding areas, most importantly NYC culture and consumer.
* Stellar portfolio of creative work, exhibiting a background in digital and editorial design.
* Deep knowledge and expertise in all aspects of layout, typography, illustration, identity, digital and experience production, and an understanding of consumer platforms.
* Detailed understanding of todays creative landscape and how people engage with content from digital products to environments and experiences.
* Ability to collaborate with and manage external agency relationships.
* Proven ability as a manager and mentor, with a knack and passion for supporting team growth, and the improvement, successes, and advancement toward collective and individual goals.
* Ability to lead team efforts while also working independently to deliver on individual responsibilities.
* A solution centric mentality with proven ability to flex and adapt to changing business needs while maintaining creative quality.
* Strong time management while balancing daily and long-term tasks, and multiple workstreams moving forward simultaneously.
* Excellent verbal and visual communication skills; adept at communicating and defending creative work.
* Strong social skills with ability to cultivate cross-functional partnership and an open, positive and collaborative environment.
* Innate curiosity and in-depth understanding of design culture, current and past.
* Strong understanding of day-to-day editorial operations and production.
* Experience across commercial and editorial environments, bridging a connection between business needs, creative vision, and consumer interests.
