The Security Data Science & Engineering (DSE) team partners with our Information Security team to enable data science, analytic and data engineering needs to reduce our risk and ensure our service & ecosystem is secure. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Security DSE team to lead data engineering efforts that support our member security initiatives across the company. This role will partner closely with Customer Trust & Streaming Security, two central security engineering teams, to support a broad strategic vision across account takeover, service abuse, content theft, customer targeted scams and more. You will be responsible for building scalable and adaptable pipelines to support efforts across fraud experimentation, fraud detection & ML models and metrics & reporting. As a senior member of this team, this role will also partner directly with our business stakeholders to identify opportunities where similar data and data products can be leveraged for more than one use-case. What you will do:
* Engineer efficient, adaptable and scalable data pipelines to process structured and unstructured data
* Develop subject-matter expertise in the Customer Trust & Streaming Security domain at Netflix
* Be a trusted partner to the Information Security and Streaming Security teams and empower them with data to efficiently scale Netflix
* Maintain and rethink existing pipelines to service a wider variety of use cases
* Build robust data sets that can power various use-cases, such reporting and analytics, scalable fraud detection, fraud-driven ML models etc.
Who you are:
* You have a software engineering mindset and are passionate about intuitive data models and distributed data processing patterns
* You are experienced in engineering data pipelines using modern big data technologies (Presto, Spark, Flink etc...) on large scale data sets
* You have a working knowledge of distributed data stores like Druid and ElasticSearch
* You are proficient in manipulating large data sets with complex SQL (Presto, Spark SQL, Hive)
* You are proficient in at least one of Java, Python or Scala
* You are able to operate independently and willing to learn new technologies and frameworks
* You excel at taking vague requirements and crystallizing them into scalable data solutions
* You are able to multitask and work on multiple ongoing projects, with minimal oversight, documentation, and defined process.
* You have excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross functional partners and independently drive projects and decisions
* Experience working in the Security domain preferred
