Role Value Proposition:

Controls, Analysis and Reporting (CAR) is primarily responsible for ensuring the fair, accurate, and timely reporting of MetLifes financial results on both a GAAP and statutory basis. In this senior role in the reinsurance reporting team, you will partner closely with business partners in various other CAR reporting teams, as well as other internal teams, in order to provide accurate and timely reinsurance reporting, analytical responses and ad-hoc replies. The reinsurance reporting team is a highly specialized team of experienced accountants and analysts with diverse knowledge that seek out solutions to new reporting requirements and streamlining of existing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

* Performs tasks related to monthly close, reinsurance allocations, variance analysis and participation in unit projects to maintain and improve business continuity.
* Works with reporting requirements and guidelines of applicable regulatory agencies to maintain records and prepare required financial reports as part of monthly, quarterly and annual STAT and GAAP regulatory reporting.
* Preparation of monthly variance analysis.
* Coordination with the lines of business, administrative areas and actuaries in carrying out assigned financial reporting responsibilities.
* Responsible for seeking out process improvements, ongoing initiatives and projects and communication with management on progress of such items

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

* 5 or more years of financial reporting and/or accounting experience.
* Knowledge of STAT and GAAP accounting practices/procedures.
* Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently, ability to handle multiple tasks and ability to meet deadlines.
* Highly proficient in excel.

Preferred:

* Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience.
* Completion of, or working towards CPA, MBA or CMA.
* Insurance/reinsurance accounting and/or reporting experience.
* Experienced user of financial reporting tools including HFM, HFM Smartview, OBIEE, Cubus/Essbase and Peoplesoft.
