Sr. Backend Data Base Test Engineer

Summary:

McKesson Specialty Health is seeking a Sr. Backend Database Test Engineer to provide Quality Assurance Testing services for market-leading healthcare applications. This position will support release readiness, SQL script development, execution and data validation, metric tracking, reporting, AWS cloud migrations, and Quality Assurance best practices and testing standards implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Create and implement test strategies, test plans, manual test cases, and automated test scripts for backend data validation.
* Collect requirements and analyze and create test cases and procedures for system, backend, functional, and regression testing.
* Work with software developers, business analysts, and project managers to analyze test results and debug problems.
* Works in parallel with the business SMEs and BA staff to create thorough, accurate, and comprehensive SQL test queries and scripts.
* Validate the excellence, quality, consistency, security and performance of large quantity of data transformation through ETL and Business Intelligence.
* Validate ETL and database procedures along with possible outcomes.
* Validate integrity and accuracy of ETL data flow across multiple data tiers satisfying the business logics and meeting performance goals.
* Develop SQL and Unix scripts for test data generation or test harness automation for iterative test cycles.
* Develop scripts to automate the backend data workflow for data integrity and accuracy across different data sources and among all data staging schemas.
* Conduct front-end data validation, API, stored procedures, and REST and web service testing.
* Write complex SQL queries to pull data residing in multiple databases, including SQL Server, Oracle, and other platforms.
* Update and maintain SQL scripts and test cases as applications and business rules change and identify areas of improvement
* Create and execute efficient database queries to support, perform, or validate test cases to compare backend data with dashboard visualization metrics created in BO and Tableau
* Evaluate comprehensive visualization reports (BO and Tableau) that verify and validate functional and non-functional system requirements.
* Explore and understand the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and bigdata architecture.
* Ensure the program performance meets service level agreements, with proper change management and configuration management.

Minimum Requirements:

* 5-6 years with strong background in SDLC, agile (scrum) development methodology, test scenarios identification, database test automation script development, and execution and report analysis.

Critical Skills:

* Experience with the Requirements analysis, Test Case management and Defect Tracking tools, for example Jira, qTest, etc.
* 5+ years of experience with writing SQL (preferably PL/SQL) and ETL, stored procedures validation experience in large data warehouse settings.
* Must be familiar and experienced with cloud computing, AWS data warehouse technology (Redshift), Aurora & PostgreSQL databases, cloud-based data migration services, AWS Data Lake, and other rational and non-rational (DynamoDB) databases.
* Understanding and experienced with Flat Files, ETL backend testing, and source target Mapping.
* Must have foundational understanding of data modeling, quality and metadata, etc.

Additional Skills:

* Demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to summarize status and progress, raise concerns about risks or dependencies, and discuss team strategy with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Willingness to learn new technologies, research solutions to new and complex challenges, share lessons learned, and collaborate with the team on projects.

Education:

* 4 years degree or equivalent work experience
