Scientist, Space Payloads Architecture Engineer
L3Harris is actively seeking a Scientist, Space Payloads Architecture Engineer for our Mason, OH location that will specialize in designing and building inhabited environments in outer space.
Job Description:
Interface directly with customer community (both government and commercial) to identify and understand their needs and problems and develop solutions
* Identifies, qualifies/develops mid to long-term business development opportunities and lead strategic campaigns to win new business
* Our payload can be a communications satellite, space probe, or spacecraft carrying variety of cargo.
* Provide inputs into our strategic planning, technology roadmaps and development plans to align internal investments with winning pursuits in the satellite payload market
* Lead development of emerging space architectures, system design concepts, evolving Concepts of Operation (CONOPS), and new technology; performance, and affordability analyses, as well as trade studies on satellite communications and payload architectures.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience with satellite communications or payload engineering, operations and systems engineering OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience with satellite communications or payload engineering, operations and systems engineering
* Experience designing and developing spacecraft systems, mission payloads and/or satellite mission architectures.
* Candidate must possess demonstrated leadership skills and career advancement to progressive levels of responsibility.
* Ability to work well with customers at both technical and executive levels. This includes being able to communicate system concepts to both highly technical and non-technical customers.
* Must be able to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)
* Must be willing to submit to a recurring Counter Intelligence polygraph examination
* Must be willing to travel as required to meet customer requirements (up to 25%)
Preferred Experience:
* Active Top-Secret and SCI security clearance preferred
* In scope/current SSBI investigation preferred
