Your Role and Responsibilities
This role is located in the IBM office in Research Triangle Park. There is no remote work option (post covid). We are co-located in RTP, NC, but maintain a responsible consideration of health and safety practices - which includes ongoing support for an in-office/remote office balance during these unusual times.
There are no relocation funds for this role so you would need to relocate at your own expense.

As part of IBM global Chief Information Office (CIO), we are responsible for building applications and solving problems for IBM's 300,000 software sales and 20,000 Business Partners all over the world. Our vision is to become a world-class delivery organization and deliver business value at speed.

We own a bunch of data related applications/assets to support the business transformation and information delivery of IBM, focusing on back-end data ETL (Extract, Transformation, Load), Interface Integration, and transformations of all IBM Software/XaaS Q2C transactional data. In this team, you could apply extensive BI/DW related technologies to projects, like OLTP (SAP, WAS), ETL (DB2/BLU, ESB/MQ, IIS/DataStage, Big Data), OLAP (Cognos), and Machine Learning. Additionally, you would get in touch with DevOps and mobile application development during our journey of implementing DevOps and enabling solutions on mobile devices for end-users. Besides, you will have the chance to work on IBM Data Lake Big Data projects, streaming processing projects and etc.

As Db2 Administration, you are responsible for working with Application development teams to provide subject matter expertise to maintain the existing infrastructure and to recommend best practices for the supporting infrastructure. You will imbibe agile practices in your scope of work. You are also expected to gain skills in your primary work technology and to gain skills in other supported technologies in the squad through defined time-bound goals in this role.

As a Database Administrator, you will be expected to perform the following (but not limited to):

* Supporting application infrastructure environment for DB on Linux and related technologies.
* Install and implement Db2, related tools, Patches as required
* Work on incidents, change, and the problem of the supporting infrastructure.
* Perform Storage Space management
* Analyze and perform performance tuning
* Maintain compliance posture as per IBM Security Policy.
* Ensure important parameters on DB are monitored.
* Ensure smooth communication among the project members, interact with various teams to make sure the DB system is running with high availability and performance
* Work with application teams to continuously improve the design and processes.
* Be part of 24x7 support for infrastructure.
* Be responsible for delivering systems on time and quality
* Provide support to other initiatives as and when required

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
* Bachelors in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely-related field of study
* 3+ years of proven experience as Database Administrator on Linux/Unix
* Strong Database (Db2, Oracle) skills or similar large-scale enterprise databases and corresponding project experiences
* Experienced in High Availability Features (pureScale, HADR, Coresync, Pacemarker / HACMP)
* Strong Linux/Unix Knowledge skills and shell/python script programming
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills on databases and OS level
* Experience in Infrastructure Architecture, Storage and Networking
* Experienced with ETL process, database performance tuning and optimization

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
* Experienced in Database maintenance, among which on Db2 Enterprise edition (V11.1 and newer version)
