JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Performs all modalities of echocardiography. Echocardiographic assessment of 2D, M-Mode, Color flow and continuous wave doppler, Stress echocardiography, Pharmacological stress echocardiography, Transesophageal echocardiograms. Must be able to analyze patients clinical history, identify the purpose of the examination, and expand the examination as necessary to answer the clinical questions.
Performs quantitative analysis of Echocardiographic studies. Analysis includes: systolic function (ejection fraction and wall motion analysis), diastolic function, pulmonary pressure, hemodynamic assessment, assessment of valvular abnormalities, changes in gradients, and critical values.
Equipment maintenance. Prepares equipment for procedures to be performed. Cleans and disinfects equipment following patient use. Maintains equipment cleaning logs.
Quality assurance. Participates in the collection and documentation of quality assurance information. Reports critical values immediately once identified.
Perform high level disinfection off TEE probes. Participates in the disinfection of TEE probes according to vendor recommendations
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associates degree or graduation from an accredited cardiac sonography program
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years experience performing echocardiography testing. With preferred degree, no experience required.
All of the following:
Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) -OR- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
