GDIT is seeking a Sr. Database Administrator Advisor to join our team in support of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Office of Financial Resources (OFR) to implement an Acquisition Management System (AMS). GDIT will acquire, configure, implement, and provide go-live support, providing a low-code commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution.
To implement the AMS, the overall team will be engaged in all aspects of the deployment from requirements gathering, architectural design, software configuration and development, testing, implementation and deployment support, change management, training, data migration, data management, and post go-live support.
Responsibilities:
Administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases. May plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.
* Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
* Performs work that requires practical experience and training.
The Database Administrator will conduct full lifecycle activities to include requirements analysis and design, develop analysis and reporting capabilities, and continuously monitor performance and quality control plans. This work involves designing and administering data collection tools, cleaning, merging, and managing new and existing data sets as well as establishing and maintaining data quality procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data.
* Monitor and report system resource consumptions to assure databases meet requirements
* Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
* Identify and define database processes improvement opportunities
* Coordinate with the database developers and ensure implementation of standards and modular structures
* Design & administer all schemas in SQL Server databases; includes management of all database objects & dependencies
* Create and manage the Data Flow & Data Modeling for multiple systems
* Develop database architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address business or industry requirements
* Responsible for monitoring, verifying & tracking all structure changes in SQL Server and other databases through source control
* Work along with the development lead in approving database structure changes and updates prior to releases
* Manage & update the entity relationship diagrams (ERDs) (logical & physical) for SQL Server and other databases
* Review, update, & manage data dictionaries for all schemas in SQL Server
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required skills and experience:
* BA/BS and 10+ years' experience (Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area is preferred)
* Current experience as a database administrator
* Experience in the development of databases objects including stored procedures, triggers, views and functions
* Experience with trouble shooting database performance issues including optimization
* Experience with packaging and delivering database updates for production releases
* Experience with creating database documentation including ERD's, data dictionaries and architecture diagrams
Desired skills and experience:
* Experience working in an Agile development team is preferred
* In depth experience in data analysis
* Superior technical documentation skills

The likely salary range for this position is $116,000 - $174,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
