GDIT is seeking a Clinical Research Subject Recruiter to support the Malaria Department for the Naval Medical Research Center Clinical Trials Center (NMRC CTC) located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda Maryland. The NMRC CTC conducts clinical trials of candidate vaccines designed to protect military against infectious diseases, such as malaria. GDIT provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the Malaria Department.
Responsibilities:
* Performs direct recruiting/advertising activities (involving the setup and coordination of daily recruitment table activities) for multiple research projects using advertisements approved by the appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) using media available and feasible for the studies open for recruitment at NMRC and NSA Bethesda.
* Ensures up-to-date recruitment materials/advertisements are publically available via all approved platforms (i.e.; CTC website, NMRC website, social media, bulletin boards, etc.)
* Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication and collaborates well with others as part of a multi-disciplinary team to include Principal Investigators, the Center Director and Program Manager, Clinical Research Coordinators, Clinical Research Assistants, Data Managers, and other center staff.
* Works with the study team to draft and update recruitment fliers, recruitment scripts, and other recruitment related materials; helps team keep track of expiration dates of various recruiting documents.
* Conducts IRB-approved recruitment activities, which may include manning a recruitment table and conducting scripted telephone interviews with potential participants.
* Attends recruitment meetings with study staff, clinicians, and/or potential participants.
* Schedules consent/screening meetings between potential participants and study team members.
* Creates, updates, and maintains a recruitment database.
* Develops clinical contacts throughout WRNMMC for the purpose of updating clinicians regarding recruitment for ongoing studies and securing new recruitment table locations.
* Works with study team to develop working knowledge of all ongoing studies and effectively communicates the design and inclusion criteria of these studies to potential participants.
* Assists in administrative duties to further the mission of CTC as needed by Principal Investigator and Program Manager.
Qualifications:
* BA/BS in the life sciences, marketing, communications, business administration, related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
* 2+ years of clinical research experience as a recruiter or related skills are required.
* Understanding of marketing and advertising strategies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), email, and voicemail.
* Strong presentation, communication (oral and written), and documentation skills.
* Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for hospital policy and participants' rights. Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and teamwork skills.
* Physical Capabilities: (1) Long periods of speaking and accommodating prospective participants; (2) Able to post fliers, billboards, and other media; (3) Able to lift/carry about 20 lbs. of recruiting materials; (4) Long periods of sitting or standing.
* Schedule: This position will require earlier hours and flexibility during peak season. This position has the potential to require communication with recruited subjects using a NMRC-provided cell phone outside of normal working hours (e.g. evenings or weekends as needed).
* Background: US Citizenship required; eligibility to obtain a favorable NACLC (T3).
