Job Description

Facebook seeks a Policy Communications Associate Manager to support a wide range of initiatives and programs for the Policy Communications Team. This role will provide communications support for the policy issues outlined in our Community Standards with a specific focus on safety and our wider content policy transparency programs. Candidates should have strong media relations and writing skills, a good understanding of the U.S. and global political landscape as well as a good understanding of technology issues, our policies and the social debate around our platforms.

Policy Communications Associate Manager, Content and Safety Responsibilities

* Drive communications activities on content policy issues outlined in Facebook Community Standards with a focus on safety and our content transparency processes

* Manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of issues related to Facebooks content policies

* Develop and create a wide range of communications materials including blog posts, communications plans, statements, briefing materials for executives, launches and more

* Work with a cross-functional team to communicate Facebooks policy development process and manage any updates to our content policies

* Develop and pitch stories related to Facebooks content policies and procedures

* Work with our global Communications, Policy, Legal, Product, Partnership, and Operations teams to build, understand and communicate on policies and that support and protect our community and reputation

* Create programs that help educate the press, policy makers and groups on how Facebook works

* Develop proactive campaigns to educate new and existing users on issues related to content, particularly safety

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in communications, liberal arts, social sciences or related field

* 5+ years of experience in a communications or public relations role

* Experience in communications, public policy or issues management

* Experience working in a deadline driven environment

* Experience working with reporters, bloggers, and media outlets

Preferred Qualifications

* 8+ years of work experience

* Experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relations in fast-paced and ambiguous environments

* Work experience in online safety, a technology company or managing technology, government, or corporate clients at a public relations agency

* Experience distilling complex policy or technology concepts into plain language
