What does a great DB2 Systems Administrator do?

Providing large-scale computing infrastructure technical and operational support in a highly technical environment utilizing RACF, HSM, USS and Workload Manager as it relates to DB2 z/OS.
As a DB2 Systems Administrator you can look forward to:

* Conduct all aspects of DB2 z/OS database administration
* Maintain USS objects for DB2 and related products
* Create, modify, or maintain in-house written CLIST and REXX utilities
* Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 operational support
* Execute DDL to create, alter, delete database objects
* Create database backups and perform database restores as required
* Troubleshoot service problems; determine root cause, and provide resolutions
* Monitor database subsystem performance and derive solutions for performance problems.
* Provide guidance on good database design and implementation practices to Developers
* Ensure compliance with database policies and procedures
* Support and participate in Disaster Recovery exercises

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

* High school diploma/GED
* Strong computer skills. Must have good oral and written communication skills.
* 3+ equivalent work experience or related and/or military experience.
* Experience providing production support on DB2 z/OS, including Data Sharing
* Must be very proficient in JCL, DDL, DML, SMP/E, TSO, REXX, and CLISTs
Must be proficient in CA and BMC DB2 tools and monitoring tools such as CA-Sysview and BMC Mainview
