Change Control Lead, Packaging Engineering

The Change Control Lead, Packaging Engineering is responsible for providing project leadership for new product launches. This consists of leading the change control team to deliver projects as well and their implementation. This role has 2 change control team members reporting to it. The change control lead is responsible for the development of the members of the change control team.

Along with leading project integration, this role has responsibility for packaging. This position will focus on and assist with Lean Materials work including PFEP (Plan for Every Part), Kanban, standardized work, packaging, part sequencing, fork-free solutions, and 1X1 problem-solving.

This position is primarily responsible for managing the plant level packaging requirements of parts and the flow of returnable packaging by using lean manufacturing concepts to support safety, quality, and delivery and cost goals. Day-to-day management of returnable packaging flow requires partnering with service providers, and parts suppliers to drive continuous improvement in the value stream.

The Change Control Lead/Packaging Engineering is also responsible for working with the North American Packaging Lead to drive continuous improvement to the Whirlpool packaging manual used by suppliers and to drive best practice sharing across plants.

Job Responsibilities:

* Management of the returnable packaging flow
* Working with part suppliers, transportation partners, service providers, and plant-level materials teams, to drive continuous improvement activities utilizing lean principles
* Project management of new packaging designs
* Lean projects including business case development
* Piloting solutions and final implementation
* Travel may be required to supplier locations post COVID

Minimum Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree
* 1+ years of experience with Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, and Material Parts Flow
* Project Management experience

Preferred Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering or Industrial Engineering
* Effective at developing and using standardized work
* Supply Chain Management, experience with Industry Standards for Packaging
* Understanding of Lean Concepts
* Understands and employs basic change management methodology
* Uses logic and problem-solving tools to develop plans to meet targets and look forward proactively and to prioritize
* Can lead conversations with suppliers in a proactive, productive manner
* Use of Google Tools (Google: Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms & Drawings)
