The Senior Report Analyst is responsible for designing/developing, programming, maintaining and publishing operational reports. Provides operational analysis utilized for decision making. Collects, analyzes, and reports relevant departmental data to clinical partners, corporate partners, and senior leadership. In addition, this position is responsible for the oversight of analysis and validation of data pertaining to departmental productivity, metric reports on a monthly basis. May make recommendations based on the analysis, and provide explanations for reporting results as needed. Ensures proper identification and reporting of all pertinent data and serves as a resource to staff, providers, internal departments and external partners regarding data reporting functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Gather/Document/Support Report Requirements:
* Identify and schedule and/or meet with internal (e.g., clinical partners, corporate partners, senior management) and/or external customers (e.g., external agencies) in order to gather report requirements and data analysis needs
* Complete functional requirement forms and/or documents to define project parameters, build report requirements, and/or identify potential solutions
* Identify appropriate data sources, report metrics, and tools for providing required information according to clients' requests
* Provide information and/or assistance (e.g., answer questions; provide time estimates) to internal team members to support requirements gathering and planning efforts
* Define and/or ensure that report parameters are established consistent with data governance requirements (e.g., share minimally necessary data)
* Create/Provide/Support Ad Hoc and Scheduled Reports:
* Identify and/or create relevant databases (e.g., fields; libraries) needed to source appropriate data
* Demonstrate understanding of relevant software and databases (e.g., SQL; Excel; Access; SAS; Hyperion)
* Review and/or identify appropriate report format to use (e.g., existing reports; new report) based on customers' needs
* Test and review completed reports and associated metrics used in order to ensure accuracy and quality (e.g., compare to previous reports)
* Ensure customers have appropriate access to reports (e.g., review security provisions; ensure proper documentation is obtained)
* Test and verify the accuracy of incoming or received data and/or coding prior to generating automated reports
* Provide support to internal and/or external customers on issues that arise when creating reports (e.g., database issues; table updates)
* Create and/or update presentation documents and materials to summarize results (e.g., written reports; PowerPoint deck; graphs and/or charts)
* Document report database processes and procedures in order to ensure business continuity in the generation of reports
* Ensure that reports are distributed according to service level agreements (e.g., deadlines; performance guarantees)
* Collaborate/Communicate with Internal and External Reporting Customers:
* Collaborates with health care informatics, health care economics, finance, and IT development teams to ensure input data, processes, and output data flow within departmental systems are properly maintained and to ensure necessary modifications or enhancements to departmental systems are identified and implemented for reporting requirements
* Communicate with internal and/or external customers concerning the status of their report requests (e.g., expected completion date; current progress)
* Conduct training with internal and/or external customers on various reporting topics (e.g., report platforms; report packages; report tools)
* Present, explain, and/or interpret reports and data to internal and/or external customers (e.g., written reports; PowerPoint presentations; verbal communications)
* Work with customers to troubleshoot and resolve any errors or discrepancies identified when reviewing distributed reports
* Keep internal customers informed of resource availability and relevant contingency plans for conducting reports
* Seek input and/or approvals from relevant customers prior to implementing new procedures or report features
* Ensure data governance requirements are met and internal procedures are followed when sharing reports and/or sensitive information
* Identify/Create/Implement Process and Report Improvements and Efficiencies:
* Conduct internal process reviews and/or gather feedback from internal and/or external customers in order to identify opportunities to improve operational performance (e.g., report automation)
* Identify and/or provide opportunities for additional training and learning to support process and report improvements
* Review competitive intelligence (e.g., report formats; aggregation levels) to identify trends and opportunities for new reporting solutions
* Review ad hoc reporting requests in order to determine whether a standard reporting solution can be created
* Review manual report packages to identify opportunities to automate reporting and/or eliminate redundancies
* Work with relevant business partners (e.g., client management) to review the effectiveness of proposed solutions
* Conduct pilots (e.g., user acceptance; parallel reporting) in order to validate the accuracy of new processes or procedures
* Maintain awareness and share industry trends, best practices, relevant standards and guidelines, and/or reporting applications (e.g., tools;software) and incorporate them into report creation and analysis when applicable
* Propose and/or define long-term strategies for implementing process and/or reporting improvements
* Analyzes data and recommends opportunities and/or action plans for improved performance based on changes between baseline results and data trends
* Resolves work problems to ensure delivery of quality customer service
* Professional Engagement:
* Attends required meetings and contributes and participates in committees as requested
* Participates in continuing education and/or opportunities for developing new skills and competencies
* Provides development and mentorship support to other team members

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree
* Experience in the healthcare industry
* 3+ years of solid data mining, analytical and reporting skills
* Experience reviewing and interpreting data, and making recommendations to senior-management
* Experience with business terminology and acronyms in order to accurately interpret customers' reporting and data collection requests
* Experience working autonomously with minimal direction
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, statistical software, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
