Radiation Effects Engineers (REE) are responsible for providing subject matter expertise and guidance for programs and hardware systems with requirements to operate, and meet performance requirements, in any type of ionizing radiation environment. The REE combines multi-disciplined skills ranging from radiation effects and interactions in electronics devices and materials, and radiation environment transport and shielding, with a unique expertise in models and tools. This role requires radiation response testing, modeling and the use of test data to assess hardware designs against the specifications and requirements. The REE derives the system radiation requirements, and combined with parts and specification requirements, prepares the program Radiation Hardness Assurance Plan (RHAP). The REE provides cross discipline support in applying unique skills to program design and system engineers, providing analysis and radiation testing, requirements assessment and flowdown, and modeling and analysis reports. The REE supports the Parts, Materials, and Process Control Board (PMPCB) to assure alignment of radiation requirements with the Parts, Materials, and Process Control Plan. The REE provides radiation analysis of parts and materials as described by the program's Approved Parts, Materials, and Process List (APMPL). Works directly with PMPCB, supply chain and design engineering to achieve a balance of program cost, schedule, and performance objectives with respect to radiation requirements and risk. The REE develops and manages engineering and qualification radiation testing efforts; analyzing and modeling the data, and delivering the test reports.

* 10 plus years of experience with Radiation Effects. Radiation Tools, Modeling, Simulation and Analysis - know terminology and have a general idea of Radiation Tools, Modeling, Simulation and Analysis, and how they impact circuits or electronics.
* Radiation Hardening, Survivability and Mitigation of Effects - know terminology and have a general idea of Radiation Hardening, Survivability, and Mitigation Effects, and how they impact circuits or electronics.
* Radiation Environments and Sources - know terminology and have a general idea of Radiation Environments and Sources, and how they impact circuits or electronics. Introductory understanding of system design & how Radiation Environments and Sources affect system performance. Introductory understanding of system design & how Radiation Environments and Sources affect system performance.
* Radiation Basic Mechanisms - know terminology and have a general idea of what the environment does, and how the environment impacts circuits or electronics. Introductory understanding of system design & how Radiation affects system performance.
* Radiation Testing - know terminology and have a general idea of Radiation testing, and techniques.
* U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
Desired Skills:
* Current or previous experience as a radiation analyst
* Proficiency in MS Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel).
* Ability to run orbit environmental models for total dose, displacement damage, and single event effects with supervision.
* Understanding of how basic radiation mechanisms impact circuits. Advanced understanding of system design & Radiation Hardening, Survivability, and Mitigation Effects.
* Ability to be able to obtain an SSBI clearance
Required Education: BS Physics, or Engineering from an accredited university.
