Job Description:
This Section Manager position will be responsible for leading a team of 10 to 15 Manufacturing Engineers within the RIS Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC). The section will be within HWEC's Consolidated Manufacturing Center Engineering group in Largo, FL. The Section Manager's primary responsibility is to ensure that the technical work scope assigned to team members is compliant to performance, cost and schedule requirements for Largo production programs. Included in this, is the responsibility to provide and use enabling resources, best practices and processes for effective and efficient technical implementation in production. The Section Manager will be responsible and accountable to ensure manufacturing engineering team members are conducting rapid and effective resolution of technical issues, managing to and reporting technical performance measures, and ultimately optimizing technical performance to improve margins. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, balancing program staffing and staff retention, progressive skill growth and career development of section team members, Basis of Estimate generation and review, as well as program review support. The Section Manager will interact frequently with multi-disciplined team leads, Production/Development Chief Engineers and Production/ Development Program Managers to ensure that team members executing the approved work scope for our internal and external customers are aligned with approved production plan, performance, schedule and cost requirements for each program.
The Section Manager will need to be a highly effective communicator (both written and verbal), partner, collaborator, leader, and a decision maker as well as an advocate for knowledge and best practice sharing, innovation, productivity improvement and diversity in the work force while promoting and enforcing high professional standards. Effective contributions to strategic planning as well as tactical implementation are key to overall success.
Basic Qualifications:
* Minimum eight (8) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
* Four (4) years of related leadership experience including effective Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leadership, Engineering Functional Leadership, Program Management/Program Office Leadership and/or Technical Leadership
* U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
* U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
Desired Skills:
* Minimum (6) years of effective implementation in all phases of hardware product development, integration, verification, production and/or sustainment
* Experience implementing/leading product design using Integrated Product Development System/Process (IPDS/IPDP)
* Transition to Production, Production and Sustainment experience
* Design Guidance System (DGS) use comprehension
* Program Management (PM) Level 6 Certification and/or Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Certification/BOE Certification
* Current DoD Secret level or higher clearance
Education (including Major):
* B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline
