The associate merchant role exists within 3 marketplace units (MPUs): Nike Direct (Nikes own retail business), Strategic Partners and Consumer Merchandising Teams working on the balance of market. For each, the role sits on a gender product merchandising team, responsible to translate seasonal strategy for the gender and marketplace unit into the optimal assortment for the respective consumers served. The role partners with Gender Merchandising leaders, cross functional partners and MPU stakeholders to plan, help build and trade a consumer right assortment.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Were looking for consumerists with an affinity for product, who enjoys the energy of moving at the pace of retail and the consumer! The successful Associate Merchant will thrive and contribute to a positive and progressive team dynamic.

This role supports building consumer right assortments for the MPU, using historical data, analytics and real-time market feedback to inform the future (coming seasons) while winning today (trading real-time).

The candidate should possess proven retail acumen and analytical abilities, an understanding of retail environments starting with digital and bring a consumerist perspective to the team and business!

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will on-board the seasonal plans including product, pricing, flow and concept or initiatives intent. You will understand related aspects of the business and marketplace when initiating seasonal work. Daily responsibilities will include:

* Shop and assort liquidation (closeout) product to liquidate marketplace and deliver the financial plan
* Using Value insights and financial plans to assort closeout choices by classification & price point
* Partner with planning to ensure support of sport/classification strategy, segmentation needs and new store openings
* Partner with across Value merchandising to fulfill Clearance needs
* Support Merchandise Managers on product pricing and promos and also alignment across other MPU partners (Digital, Clearance)
* Support Merchandise Manager on in-season actions across open to buy management, business review and take rate.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will work closely with associate merchants, merchants and cross functional teams within the MPU; in particular Planning. You will partner with finance, operations and Insights/analytics teams; relying on business reporting for your area which includes quantitative and qualitative metrics on sales, inventory and consumer behaviors.

You report to the Gender MPU Director of your team.

WHAT YOU BRING

* Requires Bachelors Degree or additional 2 years' experience in lieu of degree
* 2 years' experience in footwear or apparel merchandising, product creation and/or retail in a vertical, multi-brand or digital environment
* Understanding of common retail and/or digital profit-based metrics such as sell-through, turn, ASP, UPT and others
