Description:
At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, become part of our team as a Systems Engineer Staff for the Mission Systems Integration and Test (SI&T) Team. This position is located in Owego, NY, and is responsible for the technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost, schedule, and risk management throughout the life cycle of various avionics mission systems. This position will include technical leadership of a team of SI&T engineers. The successful candidate will apply systems engineering principles throughout the systems life cycle phases: Concept, Development, Production, Utilization, Support, and Test. Interacts with both internal and external customers regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts. Communicates with other program personnel, customers, and senior executives both at the respective
commands and Lockheed Martin. Responsible for the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work
performed and SI&T deliverables associated with one or more of the rotary wing helicopter programs. Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
-Qualified candidate reviews, evaluates and derives requirements for testability, develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for complete systems and/or
subsystems.
-Must be a proficient communicator to all skill levels and be able to work in a variety of environments. Applicants will work closely with customers and other LM team members.
-Must be self-motivated and work under general supervision, have the ability to multi-task, and possess strong organizational and
communication skills. Candidate must be able to work with a diverse team of highly skilled engineers, including junior and senior engineers, customers and other agencies.
-Applicants should expect to be assigned tasks to investigate, propose solutions for, and close on technical topics of interest to the customer and to the program.
- Requires an engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Systems, or Aeronautical Engineering and 9 years of applicable experience in a related field
- Experience with requirements development, system design, problem analysis and resolution, and integration
and test.
- Systems Integration experience on rotary wing platforms.
- Need to possess excellent communication skills for customer presentations, briefs and can work in a team environment as part of a multi-disciplined team effort involving many customers and companies.
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite, including, Excel, Access, or other databases
- Building Basis of Estimates and Cost estimating experience.
- Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, and ability to determine root cause of failures.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in Test Automation
- Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with data bus and ethernet standards, including MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, and IEEE 802.3.
- Experience with system troubleshooting and debug tools such as Wireshark, etc.
- Experience with data analysis, using tools like MATLAB or Python
- Experience with a diversity of complex electrical (hardware) and software systems
- Application overall systems engineering efforts
- Experience working in classified/access-controlled facilities
- Ability to read and use technical schematics, drawings, software specs, and manuals along with other technical materials to resolve complex problems.
