As the Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) Engineering Associate Manager over Palmdale facilities, you will:
Implement environmental compliance programs, activities and company initiatives (e.g. Go Green and Sustainable Design Programs);
Provide leadership for all environmental programs and compliance through interactions with site senior leaders as well as external regulators (e.g. local air quality management districts, state water boards);
Provide hands-on tactical support to environmental programs, and aerospace program/project activities and contractual obligations as needed;
Manage the interpretations, recommendations, and compliance with environmental, health and/or company policies;
Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, and recognition/disciplinary actions;
Plan for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements;
Manage the preparation of environmental reports and permits;
Provide site support, direction and oversight to manage ISO 14001 Management System requirements and company information management systems; and
Lead company teams in the implementation of Corporate Common Systems databases.

The selected candidate will be tasked with protecting the company reputation through full compliance of laws and regulations. This position has leadership and individual contributor responsibilities.

A level 4 employee Typically has 9 - 15 years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:
ESH project and program management experience

Experience with federal and state air quality requirements

Experience with environmental management systems such as ISO 14001 and process improvements

Prior experience working with regulators and interpreting compliance and conformance requirements

Prior management or leadership experience
Desired Skills:
Ten or more years of experience implementing ESH programs

ESH multi-tasking experience in multiple ESH disciplines

Experience communicating across all levels of an organization, functions and teams including allocating tasks across a team

Knowledge of databases/systems related to hazard assessments, incident management, chemical and air quality programs.

Understanding of union environments and collective bargaining agreements.

Ability to make difficult decisions, solve complex issues and influence ESH cultural improvement.

Experience in change management and planning activities as they relate to environment program integration and considerations.

Demonstrated management experience and oversight of budget elements, including both overhead and capital expenditures.

Lean Six Sigma green or black belt or other continuous improvement tools and techniques knowledge, including thorough root cause analysis and mistake-proofing processes.

Experience leading pollution prevention, conservation or sustainability programs.
